People shite on Stan Kroenke but he build SoFi with his own money. I think the city/state only paid for some infrastructure improvement stuff.

I mean those breaks were still worth over 100 mil, let’s not give him too much credit here. He just had no leverage coming off the St Louis debacle and multiple teams coming to LA at once

Owners arent dumb, they are businessmen.

These two things aren’t mutually exclusive

They will spend money on a stadium if they can get a return on investment. You can get a return in Los Angeles and Vegas. You cant in Kansas City or St Louis.

If you can’t get a return on investment on a sports stadium in a mid to big size city(KC is the 33rd largest TV market in the country) with an NFL team, then you are a bad businessman, or more accurately bad at this particular business

NFL teams clear the revenue that would cover these stadiums in 1-2 years with ease. If you want to make your stadium super fancy so you can charge people 700 bucks a ticket, then by all means go for it, but put your own arse on the line when you do in the same way Joe Smoe down the road does when he wants to add improvements to his business

Same owners who can’t wait to take away home games and play in Brazil, Mexico, Germany, and England.

I was there last week and was charged an arena tax. $8 for the rental car and $6 for the hotel. And they don't even have a pro team there

May be early so not connecting the dots...where are you talking about? I thought we were talking about KC.

I was referring to the arena they built, they don't have an NBA or NHL team.

They may jump around from one Kansas City suburb to another but neither are leaving the metro area.

I think ultimately this is why it was struck down. Locals know they arent going anywhere. I think if that was a legitimate worry then there would have been a better chance of it passing.

Good for the voters. I hate the fact that my tax dollars fund an NFL franchise. KC's current "run" is making that franchise and the NFL billions, especially with the recent pop culture windfall in revenue thanks to TSwift. The NFL is assuring KC these wins, they should also be funding everything else with it, not tax payers.

They aren't going anywhere. The main point wasn't the extension of the tax, it was the businesses in the crossroads area that would be moved due to the stadium. There was quite an uproar from those businesses having to just uproot and move when there are other areas near downtown that could be used. They will move to one of the other areas and it will be passed.

3, Nope, 1, 2.

Way to go Jackson County!
Born & bred, folks still live in J.C.
Jackson County is being sued by the state of Mo. for their criminal and inept property tax assessments. People have had it.

This may be the case, but it hasn’t stopped the chiefs from already starting their media campaign/public pressure by having NFL insiders like schefter write articles that headline “CHIEFS FUTURE IN KC IN DOUBT”

These things are total extortion plots at the end of the day.

Clark Hunt is one of those guys that was born on third base and thinks he hit a triple.

Which is still stupid. If an owner doesn't get his way and takes his team out because the public didn't give him billions, oh well.

And I'd say this if the Braves, Hawks, Falcons, and United tried this stunt...unfortunately, all four did it and we gave them nice facilities.

Lot of these owners fit this bill. Always makes the logic of rich = must be smart always so funny to me. This country is built on falling half arse backwards into success or being born into it

let me start by saying i agree with you. I think the cheifs problem was hitching hteir wagon to the royals with this. I dont know if their was another way to seperate the vote or something but i think a chiefs specific proposal would have passed.

I love how the NFL has record viewership, most revenue ever, etc

Yet somehow they want the public to pay for their stadiums

I think it depends on whether the stadium is owned by the city or the team. If it's owned by the city it is worth considering given the revenue/tax generation for the area as well as the opportunities it affords the citizens to watch a game, concert, or some other event there. If they're asking the public to fund a private stadium, hell no.

I believe the packers are the only major stadium (and team) that is publicly owned. NFL rules actually prevent cities from owning teams like the packers do

obviously it's not just a "him" thing, but he took a very meddling franchise in decline and won 3 superbowls with it. Got Andy Reid at a discount rate and signed and kept the face of the NFL.

Born on third base, yes, but also made it home.

I've heard estimates that Taylor Swift's association with Travis Kelce and the Chiefs resulted in somewhere between $300-400 million additional revenue for the Chiefs organization, they should name the stadium after her and leave the hardworking taxpayers alone.

I think the Royals move to the Northland before moving over to Legends (KCK). Agree with the Chiefs take. No way Missouri lets the Chiefs leave.

The stadium should have been green lighted for NKC, much better location and that area is growing and there's lots of room for a new stadium with ample parking for tailgaters

Royals have zero reason to relocate. None. I've been to Kaufmann several times, it's a great ballpark.
