Audit defense was free this year on Turbo Tax instead of the normal $60 if you subscribe. I use it every year so why not.

I for some reason get a ton of democrat emails and text for some reason. I have never registered, voted, or donated to a democrat in my life. I guess the trash emails and text are worth it if I never have to deal with the IRS.

No, but I don't post on PT too often and use an old burner laptop when I do.

I got a letter recently that I owed them $91 for 2022. It probably would have cost me hundreds of dollars to have my accountant research and correct it, so I just paid the $91.

Ha! I got one for $47 from 2021!

this is the most infuriating thing in the world. you know how much I owe (according to you) send me a bill. why do we have to play this guessing game every FCKIN year.

I know why. because you have no idea where my tax money went in most cases. and you can't put "laundered" for the remainder.
therefore, itemized bills are racist.

it's like a 3 billion dollar unnecessary industry.

That's why I pay for audit defense every year. If they ever contact me, the audit defense company tells them to only contact them and not to call me directly.

I think I’d call that a Power of Attorney. Just getting a letter from the IRS saying you owe a certain amount, does not mean you were or are being audited…probably a math error on your part. Just saying.

Even before the 87,000 I used to get a letter almost every year.

Those are birthday cards.

I’ve had a refile sitting with them for years and they just finally processed it and sent my overpayment.

Cheated on absolutely nothing...I had one return in my life where dividends and interest from one Fidelity account was left off by my CPA and was caught and paid back with interest...no other issues in 40 years of working...

Same. Self-employed for 10 years. I pay quarterly on time. I've been paying about $70k/year for the past 3 years. I just got a letter saying I owe almost $8,000 for 2019, then got another letter saying I owe almost $5,000 for 2020. Okay, so 5 years later, I suddenly owe even more money than I already paid in? GTFO. Get that money from Hunter Biden, cheesedicks.

What’s a “refile”? Do you mean an amended return? You received additional info or forgot some info, then amended your original filing?
