No reports of teams who have reached out yet but there are two big PG entries into the portal today- Aden Holloway who started at Auburn all last season, and also Arizona starting PG Kylan Boswell. We were never really in Holloway’s recruitment out of high school but will be interesting to see if we reach out.

So Auburn has lost both point guard s? Bruce has lost control of the program.

For anyone who doesn't know who he's referring to:

I also don't think we have much of a shot but CMM can show that he has featured stretch bigs in both his years at LSU.

For reference, the guy is 6'10 240.

His nicknames are funny, but Robbie Avila is actually a good player. He's a below the rim big, but he handles the ball well, is a good passer, and shoots well. He averaged 4.1 assists and 1.8 turnovers per game. He shoots 39.4% from 3 point range, so he's a lot like KJ and Baker, but he's a way better passer. He was the star on that Indiana St team.

"Cream Abdul-Jabbar" hit the portal today

Indiana State F Robbie Avila

quote:

A native of Oak Forest, IL, Avila appeared in 37 games this past season, averaging 17.4 points on .536 shooting, 6.6 boards and 4.1 assists over 31.2 minutes a night.

Edit: Yall beat me to it

Will be adding High Point guard Duke Miles to the list of contacts. Haven't heard much about this guy but the list of schools pursuing him is pretty impressive:

Michigan
Kansas
UCF
Illinois
Auburn
Alabama
Texas
Maryland
Penn State
Wake Forest
NC State
Oregon
Georgia Tech
Mississippi State
LSU
Florida State
Virginia Tech
Cal
SMU
Saint Louis
Samford
UAB
UNCW

Miles averaged 17.5PPG, 3.6APG, 2.4RPG and 1.3SPG this season. Was selected to the All-Big South First Team and was the leagues Newcomer of the Year. LINK

Don’t get me wrong, he’s a good player. But I would expect him to struggle in the SEC.

List of SEC transfers, found on the SEC Rant LINK

There's several I'd go after
Tre Donaldson (Auburn)
Khalif Battle (Arkansas)
Tramon Mark (Arkansas)
Jason Rivera-Torres (Vanderbilt)
Tywin Lawrence (Vanderbilt)

I didn't even realize Mwani was in the portal until I saw this list.

We don’t essentially need a 7 footer but a guard who can control the game and go get a bucket when we need it is what this roster has to have.

This is huge for next season. While I think adding another big would be great, LSU needs a veteran point guard who can control the flow of the game, and afford Williams and Givens time to mature.

Just because a guy played in the SEC doesn't mean he's a great fit or what LSU needs. If you look at the top assist guys/PGs this past season, many were mid-major transfers

Zyon Pullin (Florida)...from UC Riverside
Aaron Estrada (Alabama)...from Hofstra
Ta'lon Cooper (USC)...from Minnesota via Morehead St.
Mark Sears (Alabama)...from Ohio
Sean East (Mizzou)...from JUCO by way of Bradley

Mark from Arkansas probably wouldn't be a bad get. But there are several mid-major PGs that have great potential. LSU has swung and missed twice in that regard. Given how much McMahon wants to run his offense through a PG who can create he can't afford to miss again.

Just added Justin Hill, transfer guard from Georgia:

Via X source: Georgia transfer Justin Hill says he’s hearing from these schools since going portaling:

LSU
Virginia Tech
Louisville
North Texas
VCU
UAB
Wichita State

He averaged 9.5PPG, 3.2APG and 1.7RPG this season for the Bulldogs. Native of Houston, Texas.

I agree that both were misses but they were misses for separate reasons.

Hill just wasn't talented enough to play in the SEC. Cook was plenty talented enough but couldn't stay out of the dog house.

Thought you meant in this year's portal.

Is Sears still available?. His offense would be a great addition and hopefully a good asset as a distributor.
