Dangerous home shop tools

I don’t know statically what the answer is, but using an angle grinder always worries me. I’m just a weekend warrior. I always expect to lose a finger or be impaled by a loose cut off wheel. I imagine table saws get a few fingers for trophies as well.

Ive got a 36" Craftsmen wood lathe that is posessed by Satan and craves blood.

I just propped a ladder inside the attic, up the chimney against the exterior to get to a spot a woodpecker drilled through. I can't decide if it was an intelligent problem solved or full on stupid.

Angle grinder with a cut off wheel. I’ve taken more than one person to the hospital because the wheel came apart. One took 1/3rd of one to the nutsack and had to get stitches.

I feel like there's a difference between how inherently dangerous a tool is and how dangerous a tool can be if used improperly in certain ways.

I have recurring nightmares about my Milwaukee Sawzall.

Knew a guy that died when working on a snow mobile drive belt.

Lathes scare the shite out of me

Hate it when drilling a hole in steel and the bit grabs as it's about to go through and the torque of the drill twist your wrist.

I used the chainsaw attachment deal for the angle grinder twice. I hated it, so I clamped it in my shop vise and whacked it with a hammer until a few teeth broke, then threw it away.
That was a while before seeing Stumpy Nubs damn near lose half his hand from the same attachment. Those things are dangerous as a rattle snake.

One handed chainsaw up a ladder trimming branches is way up there. Haven’t done that in years.
My doctor told me some years ago to not climb ladders, hire Paco.
Good advice.

Table saw will absolutely launch a projectile if it gets bound.

The undisputed king is the ladder.
Every home has at least one, and a fall from a step ladder can cause severe injuries.
Gravity is no admirer of men.

I looked for it for 30 seconds and couldn’t find it, but there is a woodworking craftsman-like multi tool (think bandsaw, mitre, lathe, tablesaw, combo monstrosity) that has primary duties of removing flesh from body, but I couldn’t find it. It’s universally understood as the most dangerous piece of woodworking equipment of all-time.

Router. I’ve sliced off huge chucks of three separate fingers because of using one recklessly

All of mine are deadly because I use them for unintended purposes which results in unplanned failure of the tool.

Most probably don't think of a ladder as a "tool" but I'd guess more people are hurt using a ladder than any other home tool. Mostly because they are used incorrectly all the time which causes them to fall while people are at height.
