What type of career would you recommend to an 18 year old in today's age?

High School Senior here heading to LSU next year. Currently undecided on what to major in or what to do.
What would you recommend to an 18 year old heading to college today in terms of a promising job/career with lots of growth, high demand, and potential going forward?
With what you know now, what would you tell someone like me to look into?
I plan on staying in Louisiana if that helps.

Talking smack on TD with no consequences and hiding behind a keyboard is a vv promising career and way to get attention by many idiots and low IQ individuals as evidenced by certain daily threads.

The South Park episode where tradesmen were wealthier than everyone is more accurate than satire.
Many trades can't be replaced by technology and there is a whole generation of them about to retire from it.
Unless you are getting a highly specialized degree these days, I just don't see how college is worth it over a trade school.

This is very dependent on your interests and strengths. There are plenty of STEM fields that will be in demand for a while here given Louisiana’s industries and coastal environment situation.
Just please don’t major in anything that ends in “Studies”

Construction management or landscape architecture with the desire to combine either with entrepreneurship.

If your not sure what you want to do, go to college for a year and try to figure it out (and have some fun).
If after a year or two you still don’t know and you have some BS degree path, get out and start working on a trade path. A lot of tradesman are retiring and selling their businesses in the next few years. Buy one of those businesses and scale it

I mean, that’s such a broad question without much history to be able to answer effectively.
What are you interested in, do you plan on going to school, how important is money to you, where in LA do you want to live, do want to work for yourself, etc.

My biggest mistake was not trying to get internships.

Summer internships are very important for connections and resume building. I kept going home during summers in college because I had a job with a landscaping company that paid me way more for full time work than I could get anywhere else. Got a great tan and a good work effort, but it held me back from getting relevant experience in business

Anything Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning related. Not things that will be replaced by AI/ML, but things that will drive AI/ML.
A trade that cannot be replaced by AI/ML.
If Supply Chain Management or Construction Management as has been mentioned, then it needs to be accompanied by a layer of something that will allow for stickiness when those industries are disrupted.
Example: Additive Manufacturing/3-D Printing, powered by AI/ML, is going to disrupt traditional construction. Maybe not ALL sub-sectors, but a significant amount of them. When that happens to a certain degree, it's no longer "construction" and more like "technology that happens to be applied to building things." Business models will change drastically and traditional "construction managers" will be out of place unless they adapt as well.

Also with trades, the big money is really made by starting your own business because your body will break down doing that yourself down the line. You have to have a little bit of people skills, bookkeeping skills, and organization

Politician. Easiest job as a path to becoming a millionaire. Plus, it's better to do the fricking.
Eta
Just realized you might actually be the 18 year old, so let me rephrase. Easiest to change the world from the inside! :)
