Anyone watched Manhunt on Apple?

It’s the movie about the assassination of Lincoln and the hunt for Boothe
First episode was last week and haven’t heard anything.

It’s on my list to start soon. Pretty much anything on Apple is worth giving a shot and the trailer looks pretty good. The actor that played Crosby in Masters of Air is playing Booth.

Watched the first two episodes. They did a good job building suspense even though most people know the story. Good show so far.
I’m no acting critic but the portrayal of Abe Lincoln seemed really bad…such a pivotal role that didn’t match the quality of the rest of the production IMO

+1
I have so many full seasons of shows to watch I am just waiting for all of it to be up before starting. I have gotten so spoiled with binging entire seasons I tend to avoid the weekly drops.

I agree. he’s not good at all, the voice is annoying. We got spoiled with Daniel day Lewis playing him.
Other than that pretty good show so far.

I watched it and was pleasantly surprised.
It’s got high production value and the guy playing Stanton should get an Emmy nomination for it.
There’s a couple of ham handed attempts to parallel Lincoln’s assassination with January 6 by the woke woman writer that you have to ignore.
The Lincoln actor is epically horrible, but he’s a supporting character. Almost comical he’s so bad.

I watched a little bit last night, but I couldn’t get past how laughably bad the actor portraying Lincoln was. Should I try it again?

Yes. Lincoln’s parts get pretty minimal after Ep. 1 because he’s dead. Stanton becomes the main character and he’s phenomenal.

Yes, it was mostly the actor’s voice that was terrible. He sounded like he was going through puberty. Daniel Day-Lewis as Abe in Spielberg’s Lincoln cannot be topped.
At first I thought it wouldn’t be a big deal as most of the plot should take place after Lincoln’s death, but the constant flashbacks are a cringey reminder of how bad the portrayal of Lincoln is.

Bumping because we just powered through it.
Anthony Boyle from Masters of the Air did a stand-out job as Boothe. Wish they'd spent more time on his acting career. The guy was great to watch as he chewed up the scenery as an "actor".
Lincoln was played by the goofy brother from New Christine. I was better with his performance as Lincoln before I realized who he was. But he did okay.
quote:Nothing is as cringy as 2020s Patton Oswalt being shoehorned into this period piece. Zero effort made to portray a person of the 1860s. At one point he made sarcastic air-quotes. It was like watching him do standup at a Civil War reenactment.

The dude from Outlander did a great job as Stanton.

Yes he was great. And Booth actor was really good. The rest (especially Patton Oswalt as previously noted) were not very believable.

Horrible casting.
No idea how he got the part especially with excellent portrayals by Tobias Menzies (Edward Stanton) and as mentioned, Anthony Boyle.
Also thought Matt Walsh (Dr Mudd) was very good.
Just remember his roles from The Hangover and Old School and wasn't expecting much.
