Do you have a "home base" Mexican restaurant?

We have one we go to about 85% of the time and rotate a few others 15% of the time.
We've found our homebase will shift every 8-12 months. Not sure if it's the turn over or what but it seems the salsa/cheese dip/food changes from time to time.

Congrats on paying $16 for $2 of meat, and a bunch of rice, beans, and tortillas.
Your wife's Mexican restaurant is wherever her friends want to get drunk before they pick up the kids.

Congrats on not answering the question.
Do you expect a restaurant owner to not profit cooking for my family?

El Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant on Airline Hwy across from Franks.
First went in 1969 when i was twelve. My sister took me there on her lunch break in order to broaden my culinary tastes because I was a bit of a picky eater.
I think I didn’t even know that Mexican Food was even a thing.
I still order the same plate of food called a toluca. There was a time when I would call my order in for a toluca and they’d say, “Hi wallowinit”.

I used to. My family (and, later, friends and I) used to go to the Cucos at the corner of Belle Chasse and Lapalco from the time they had Nintendo Golf and Pac-Man cocktail arcade games until they became completely inconsistent after Katrina.
That location was there long before they expanded as a chain, and the food was reliable for what it was. Chips and salsa, soft drink (or margarita for the adults), fajita enchiladas, fried ice cream for dessert.
In Baton Rouge, my wife and I usually got food from El Magey. Or La Reyna for Honduran before they closed.

This is Biden’s America. Where are you paying $2 for meat?

I’ve got one with great food, generous portions, quick service and a reasonable price. It’s our go-to.

Thanks for reminding me Coyote Blues is gone. Both of them.
But Tio Javi’s (Ninfa’s) is always damn good.

El Portrillo in Carencro is my favorite. I go every time I'm passing through

Is actually pretty decent. Old school Tex-Mex. It's where I go too. I usually get the Toluca as well.

I don't really have a home base Mexican restaurant but do enjoy going to Los Reyes on Coursey.
