If you can't afford to pay cash for a depreciating asset then you can't afford it.
It's just a thing people say but they don't really know why they say it.

Not if you actually know how to negotiate. Negotiate everything separately.

Idk, paying more than $400 a month including insurance on a depreciating item just seems so silly to me.
You’re spending $500 a month before taxes on income for said note. Imagine having two notes.. that’s $1000 a month before fuel.
Give me a 100k mile toyota.

You sacrifice rebates for the 0%

I’m paying over $4,700 a month on three notes

Our insurance is more than $400/mo but we do have a teenager on there. It sucks.

On average, if you are making 85k you can't comfortably afford a 58k truck. That's a very unwise financial choice for 85% of people in that income bracket at least.
I am trying to apply your math to my situation. So I make 350K so I cant comfortably afford a 305K truck and it is a very wise financial choice for 350% of the people in this income bracket at least? Did I get that right baw?

You could probably afford a Lariat unless you have credit card debt.

I’m an OT poor and can only afford a $600 note

This reminds me of how my wife’s sisters husband bought an f150 with 90k miles on it. He installed a lift kit, new tires and a bunch of other crap.

Not anymore. Maybe a used Colorado. A new work truck is 36k.
I paid 32k for a crew cab XLT F150 in 2017. That truck is 56k or so now.
10k off MSRP 6-7 years ago was the norm, but it isn't now.

The kicker is taxes. 58K+ $5800 in taxes.
Govn't is killing the working man in taxes.

That's damn near new by my standards. I live less than 3 miles from work, almost everything else that I do is within a mile of my house, and anytime we go anywhere as a family, my wife wants to take her car because it's easier to get in and out of. I can't justify a $1,000 car note plus $100+ in insurance to drive 200-300 miles/month, so I drive old (200K+)'Yotas that I pay cash for.
