Romeo Chicco struggled to get car insurance in December and was rejected by 7 different insurers.
It turns out GM sold the driving history from his 2021 Cadillac to Lexis Nexus which then provided that data to insurance companies for risk assessment.
He is now suing both.

Something needs to be done with these tech companies buying and selling data. Extremely difficult for me to believe this isn't being used as an end around the 4th Amendment.

frick GM for releasing private personal info w/o consent.

imagine googles making your search history public when applying for a home loan or a job

I like how the NYT started the article title with "Florida Man"

LOL I thought I had gone to the wrong thread, I never checked back after last night. Will be up there next month with one of the PCA chapters. We have the full course which I like, I can never get the right rhythm going up the hill on the Grand course until about the last lap of the last session.

He should sue. That shite should be opt in only.

So did mine. I told them to kiss my arse. I hate my personal info being shared with anyone for any reason.

I had a Silverado a few years ago (did not subscribe to Onstar) and was switching my insurance to Progressive. During the call, the rep asked if I wanted to do Snapshot then quickly said "Nevermind, we already have your driving data". Current truck I removed the cellular modem since I wasn't doing the subscription stuff anyway.

Should change your title. He sued Lexis Nexus, a data company. Not Lexus.

I bet they don’t reward you for good driving data

I just had to opt out on my wife's new car. Who knows how much that would have increased our insurance, but I bet it would be a ton.
Flordia man needed this link LINK
Every manufacture has one, just google "opt out sharing data and your car brand"

I agree that it's an invasion of privacy but my wife talked me into doing it. She's my insurance agent.
It does save us almost 1k every 6 months on our policy, but some of that is because neither of us drive a lot, and I have the driving habits of an 80 yr old
I totally understand why people wouldn't want to do it. My thoughts as well.
