I can explain Boeing quickly. It attained a market dominant position in the USA following the merger with McDonnell Douglas. This made it lazy. It then got new management, which emphasized financial chicanery over top flight engineering, symbolized in its move of its corporate HQ from Seattle to Chicago. The financial geniuses then worked to break the union, shift production away from its trained Seattle work force to places like South Carolina, and outsource production of most plane components abroad - the American work force was left to assemble all these disparate parts rather than produce them here. Software was also outsourced. The end result was lower quality of aircraft, delays in development and production, and even fatalities from crashes. But rest assured the management in Chicago did very well.
Meanwhile, by focusing on MBAs and JDs rather than engineers, top management fell victim to all the pathologies coming out of top schools. This is where the DEI nonsense comes from, which would have been much harder to impose if management were more focused on building good planes than stock buybacks. So the outsourcing, cost cutting, diminishing the original work force - all this is now working in tandem with the sort of diversity/DEI dysfunction visible all over corporate America. It’s a feedback loop that could be fatal to Boeing, and has already been fatal to someone airline passengers.
This is basically it. It’s not an elaborate conspiracy. It’s a tale of greed and dysfunction that you can see all over America.

I don’t agree with this part.

Elon needs to buy Boeing.
Or just start his own airplane engineering and manufacturing company

Some of this is crappy maintenance by the airlines.

Half of that reads like a guy from Seattle who doesn’t like Boeing moving to other places.
“Trained Seattle workforce” lol. Like only the hippies in Seattle can build planes and they never hired anyone from anywhere else.

The next major US air disaster will be directly tied to DEI.

The last major crash, even though it was a cargo flight, was caused by a DEI hire.

You don't agree that it's a bad idea to remove the country's largest passenger jet builder from the workforce that was professionally trained to build those same jets and give the construction over to a bunch of untrained jackasses that are cheaper?

There’s no part of me that believes that union workers are more skilled, motivated, or produce a higher quality product.
Quite the opposite in fact.

Someone need to tell that guy his research sucks. As bad as Boeing is the 787 is made in CHS...it was delayed terribly due to engineering/design flaws in Seattle. The 787 hasnt had the real issues in flight. That is the 737 made in Renton Washington....UNION 100%, CHS has voted not to unionize.

Again the 2 737 Max planes that crashed were made in Wash......100 years of building history there.

This kind of histrionic nonsense makes you lose an argument by default.
To meet rising aircraft demand, Boeing has to double its output every 12 years. It can't physically do that and remain 100% in Seattle. It wouldn't have enough space or enough trained workers.
The only way for it to meet demand is to broaden its footprint and integrate more suppliers.
Boeing has more employees in Seattle today than it did 20 years ago.
And calling the South Carolina workers "untrained jackasses" makes you look ignorant.

That’s quite an indictment of their South Carolina workforce.
Was it a weird decision when the execs decided they’d rather live in downtown Chicago high rises than the Seattle area? Yes
Did that cause a strained relationship with their production facilities in Seattle? Yes
Was it a bad decision to move some production away from a bloated and disgruntled union in Seattle? No

And the connection buried to the greatest extent possible by the MSM and maybe even the Govt.

Uhh, the Dreamlifter flies in 787 section built out of the country. It is a massive plane.
I heard the same story as told in the OP. Boeing is now fully run by accounting and finance guys instead of aviation people.

Notoriously conservative and risk averse people somehow contributed to making Boeing…more dangerous?

And that story will be buried before they put out the flames.

I came in here expecting to see the OT hating any mention of a union workforce being lauded.
Not disappointed.
A lot of people just fricking hate the idea of an organized workforce having leverage over their corporate overlords.
Don’t worry boys. The CEOs’ boots are already clean. No need to keep licking.
