That makes no sense man. You need to get a different company.
While yes he should shop around. Most all companies give a discount for being married. Once he took her off he lost that discount.

Do you have to show your marriage certificate? Can you “remarry”?

You should not have to wait for open enrollment when you had a life changing event. A divorce is usually defined as such under the policy. At least that’s my understanding

Mine too. They are trying to milk your premiums.

I'm calling tomorrow and going to say I was trying to get a quote and the guy messed up. That I'm not divorced. They don't have proof of divorce.
Most insurance calls I’ve made have been recorded.
If you try that and they have you on record claiming the opposite, that might be one too many red flags on the cost to insure you.
Why not just be truthful and pay at your actual risk level?

I drive dependable but older work cars that don't require comp and collision. Basically, I'll buy "little old lady cars." I carry full coverage on my old cars, but antique car insurance is very cheap.
If for some reason I need a newer car, I'll rent one. The only time I'd ever do it was if I was taking a road vacation.

Yes, but it is a slower more painful death.

I tried to get her removed from my medical benefits at work but they told me it was too late; I had to wait until the next enrollment period.
That's bullshite and is the case because someone at your work is being lazy and not wanting to file the necessary paperwork. As others mentioned, divorce is a live changing event that doesn't have to wait until enrollment period. Plus, you can opt out of any coverage at any point during the year, you just can't add unless it's curing the enrollment period or you have a life changing event

Car insurance not health. We've always had separate health insurance.

I never called anyone.
I did the change by chat.
I'm saying that I was trying to get a quote and the online agent flubbed it.
I never submitted any proof of divorce and I only gave my name, no details on message so I'm going to claim it wasn't even me.
Worst that can happen is I switch companies.

I'm assuming he went from insuring 2 cars to 1 and it went up $900? Doesn't make much sense to me

Added her back on. Insurance dropped $750 / 6 months.
Screw it. Married for Insurance reasons.
