Removing an ex from your insurance is a mistake. Leave the witch on.

My insurance went up $45 a month. So I looked at my policy and realized my ex was still on it. We split up a year ago and divorced in October.
So I message Geico and remove her from the policy. Guy gets back to me, policy goes up by $900 over 6 months.

So I say "we aren't really divorced I was just looking at prices" but that bastard wouldn't change it back.
So now my insurance is really high.

Moral of the story, they don't need to know your marriage changes. Keep the married discount. Even if she has tickets and multiple claims.

For me is time to switch insurance again.

That makes no sense man. You need to get a different company.

This is every few years regardless of marital status.

So it really is “cheaper to keep her”.

Mines 650 every 6 months for 2 cars full coverage, one brand-new. Sucks to be you.

Geico man is supposed to get authorization from your ex that she can be removed from policy if she is listed as a policy owner and not just a driver btw. It’s more expensive to insure a single person especially if they are a male most of the time unfortunately. If you were to hypothetically leave her on the only way an insurance company would be able to tell is if one of you changed your license address and it came up on the prefill report upon renewal, fyi

I have 4 cars. Two full, two partial.
I'm at $480 a month now with no claims and no tickets.

Makes no sense.

I'm calling tomorrow and going to say I was trying to get a quote and the guy messed up. That I'm not divorced. They don't have proof of divorce. But at the same time in going to shop around.
I was looking at adding a 5th vehicle and a motorcycle so I need to take insurance back down some or turn a car off for now. I have a car I haven't driven in two months because I hurt my foot and can't clutch.

In the insurance company's eyes, you're now a higher risk driver.

You were married status - staying at home all the time, only driving to go fishing, church, work, etc.

Now you're the crazy single douchebag guy chasing women and hitting the bars 4 nights a week.

That's a chump charge. They figured you are too depressed to switch to another company.

The ball is in your court.

I actually think that there is a bill that was filed for this upcoming session that says insurances can't charge a premium based on sex.

Eta: Looks like this is the 3rd time he's filed this bill. Will probably get shot down again because it will hurt profits.
