I'll admit it - I dig poke bowls

wife and i met for lunch yesterday at some random poke place here in nashville (next to a trader joes..there's a damn surprise) and i gotta admit it was delicious.
it was set up like a subway where you picked stuff..started with half greens/half rice then you got 3 proteins - i picked raw spicy tuna, salmon and ahi tuna then a spicy soy sauce blend, corn, thin cucumber slices, marinated onions & carrots, crunchy wasabi peas, seaweed, etc etc. and some wasabi sauce and spicy mayo on top..
damn, this was the most delicious thing i've eaten in some time. so fresh and so many flavors at once. $14 for basically as many toppings as you wanted.
if you've never had one, give it a shot.

It's a brave stance. Don't let the haters shout you down. S Stand strong.

Wait, people hate on poke bowls? I've never had one nor do I have much interest in them, but I don't understand why there would be hate. It seems like a nice, healthy meal for those into that sort of thing.

Love Poke. I do have trust issues with the places that serve it around BR though. I'm not sure I'd want raw tuna from a place that smells like weed (looking at you Pokeworld)

Southfin is local and the dude who runs it, knows what he is doing.
I’ve tried the finbomb place a few times for lunch. It’s a little different, but I’ve had no issues at all with them.

I'm sure there are, but I was just mildly digging at the OP for his scandalous "admission."

I'm a big fan of poke. Most places outside of Hawaii seem to serve it in a Build Your Own Style. When I went to Hawaii a few years back, it was very different. Most places had several different styles of fish prepared in several different ways, and there were minimal toppings to add. I enjoyed the poke more there because the fish was better / fresher and the overall taste of their styles of poke was better. That being said, I still love the Build Your Own style as well.
This is typically what you see in Hawaii
I haven't been to one place in the continental U.S. that prepares and serves it the traditional way, which is kind of odd.

Yes I'm late to the party but ever since an episode of Feeding Phil where he said he couldn't stand poke bowls I guess that stuck with me and I never really gave them a chance.
My bad because they are yummy. Just not something I would have normally sought out.

The one went to had the protein laid out like that with the exact scoopers in that pic except the trays were maybe 1/4 that size.
Very fresh and the little couple that owns it went overboard to load our bowls down and practically forced us to take samples of everything just because I asked a question.
Then she came outside and found us and gave us 2 free dole whips for dessert.

I honeymooned in Hawaii for 14 days. I gained 13 lbs, it was likely all poke
Love poke bowls we have here but it's a different experience in Hawaii.

All the ones that I've been to over here only have basic options:
Ahi Tuna
Spicy Tuna
Salmon
Spicy Salmon
Shrimp
Tofu
And maybe 1 or 2 more proteins.

so fresh
I was visiting a city for several days and had eaten all the tapas, fusion tacos, steaks, etc. the local restaurants had to offer when I came across a hipster poke bowl place.
The freshness of it all was so welcome. I went back again the next day.

Poke is great. Really need to dial in the add ins to maximize goodness. For example I usually like seaweed in other things like sushi but for some reason it makes poke less good to me.

Was curious because I had not heard of this place. Checked the nutrition in a couple of the poke bowl combos on his site and was blown away by the numbers.
