Seemed like he just 'lost it.' Maybe some of the pitching gurus can weigh in.

I don't know, but Coleman seems to have filled out a lot. I was watching at a party and with no sound. I had to be told twice that it was Coleman on the mound.

Johnson said ran out of gas and they were expecting it because he threw in bullpen night before and was fully ready to enter that game. Johnson said that before the game they felt he could go about 45 pitches.

I think "lost it" pretty much sums it up. He wasn't even missing close to the zone. In previous games, it was mentioned he prefers a long warm up which is why he preferred starting rather than coming out of the pen. But that doesn't explain why he came in throwing strikes then fell off.

I feel like Coleman is going to settle into a role as a guy who can give you 2 maybe 3 innings.

and yes he’s gone farther this year, but he always looks his best his first 2 innings out.

and that’s fine. Paul Gervase was a beast 2 innings at a time. He gave up like 8 ER in 2022 and 5 of them were in outing where he went over 2 innings.

If Coleman and Guidry can get you a total of 3 innings of shut out ball from the 7th through the 9th this team will be in Omaha.

Not complicated. Jay Johnson said he thought he got tired. That’s it.

ETA: CJJ quote is in the badvocate.

His velocity dropped as well. Indication of fatigue or aiming the ball. Probably the former based on Jay’s comments.

Was just listening to the game but he couldn’t throw a strike.

Coleman’s stuff is adequate. I think he’s going to be passed up by Anderson. At the end of the day he’s a one time through the order guy on the weekends.

He was one out away from three good innings.

I think "lost it" is exactly what happened.

It was my fault, fellas! My bad!

That’s about the time I turned on the t.v. to catch the end of the game. The Gris Gris monster caught me and that’s all she wrote.
