Need school system like Germany where kids can specialize in trades starting in high school.

I’ve already told my son, Easton, that there is no college in his future. He’s six.

You sure the MLB via travel ball isn’t in his future?

My aunt’s sister in law and her husband just bought a brand new RV to travel the country and before they even started their trip, it has 3 different recalls on it and they are trying to find somebody in their area who could do it.

Yep. Since he's mobile with his truck and enclosed trailer, he can go fix an issue at a campground. Or there are a lot of people living in RVs today. If they have a problem, they can't pack up their RV and let it sit for months at a dealership.

They'll pay you whatever it takes for you to come to them and fix it. And his inspection jobs are easy. A thorough walk through and inspection then paperwork.

And if you're trying to head home or wherever from a campground and you're slide won't come in, you're not moving anywhere. You'll pay whatever it costs to be operational again.

The best of the lot was 72 yrs old and only had one leg and 1.5 arms. He's still going strong but he's on the clock for sure.

I'm guessing he don't get in attics much these days.

Learn how to splice fiber. You'll spend 5 years in the trenches and working 60+ hours a week making $23/hour but after that and 3 or 4 certifications later, you'll make bank.

I am a recruiter and I have so many open positions like this, I can't keep up. SLCC in Lafayette has a 6 week class that's free and will get you all the certs you need to get through the door.

In the Power Utility biz it’s even better. Is what I’m referencing.

I had a friend who had to go in the attic in the dead heat of summer and he passed out on the first day and quit after that.

Sadly he is probably wasting his time. All of these jobs will be held by Mexicans. These kids today are not doing these jobs.

Right, no one has to do anything. But when they complain about not being able to find a job, they complain because they can't find a job they want. I guess I just have the old school mentality that sometimes you have to eat shite to get to where you want to be, but I will say this. Several years ago I was asked to be a judge for a HS senior project which involves each kid to pick what career they wanted and throughout the year they work on this and have to present it at the end of the school year.

The other problem is.. And this was at a mostly black HS.. Is that the kids wasn't aware of all the careers they could pursue. They all wanted to open up a carwash, do hair and nails.. There was one kid who I was told to go easy on because he was a special ed student.. He wanted to be a doctor, but there were maybe 4 or 5 different professions that most of the kids picked from.

So if public schools did a better job focusing on kids not going to college and help them become aware of whats out there that might help.

It's nearly impossible to find a bricklayer worth a shite nowadays.

What is the salary and benefit package(lol) for a bricklayer today?

There is a reason no one wants to take one of these jobs. Fast food workers are also in demand but no one is telling people they need to start a career in burger flipping.

The OT always pumps trade jobs, rightly so

However, nobody here is gonna do it. Gotta sit in AC all day posting on TD

Electricians, plumbers, HVAC have to work in heat all day. Enjoy being in a louisiana attic in august.
