With lawyers, it's the 95% that give the rest a bad name.

The no-pay-no-play statute needs to be amended. You shouldn't be allowed to recover general damages if you don't have insurance.
Or just go to a no fault system.

There are over 23k lawyers in the state of Louisiana. I imagine the average non-attorney couldn’t name more than ten on a good day. It really doesn’t take many loud mouthed jackasses to cast the rest of us in a bad light.

There used to be this black dude at work who worked as a "runner". He pretty much just picked up shite or brought drawing to other firms around baton rouge. And when there was a meeting scheduled at or through lunch he would pick up the food, etc.
There was a law firm downtown that paid him $100 for every referral. He told us he got so many people he knew some money for some bullshite. Someone he knew hit their hand on a grocery cart in a grocery store. From the way he told it, it was really not a big deal, but he knew people who got money for less. That person ended up getting $15k. No telling what the law firm got and he got his $100.
These clowns make lots of money on bullshite. And its a quantity game. A bunch of bullshite cases add on, throw in a few big cases a year and they make some $$$.
They send their clients to "their" doctors who I am sure gets a piece of it for every client they diagnose with some injury that doesn't exist. Its a racket.

Have you seen some of the tort reform legislation that is actively being proposed? $25k damage cap on soft tissue injuries, for instance. We're about to see just how strong the plaintiff lawyer lobby is in Louisiana, even with a Republican super majority.

That’s not going to do anything to solve the problem complained about in this thread: low end bullshite claims. The same claims you hate will still get their $25k and someone with debilitating, life altering injuries will be hard capped.

Most attorneys don't particularly like the current advertising rules, because most attorneys have no interest in overtly advertising their services. It's created a weird rift between those who do and those who don't.
True.
There are many attorneys who do (primarily) plaintiff's work who don't want to advertise. Yet, they feel they almost have to in order to get any clients.
The advertising rules have completely "cheapened" the profession and made what was once considered one of the more honorable professions to one of the most despised. But from a business standpoint the Gordon's, DeBosiers, Bart's, etc of the world have done a remarkable job generating revenue. They've essentially created a market where (largely) lower income people (and not just black folks) see an auto-accident as not an inconvenience, but a potential "lottery-ticket".

The Bar Association
Is a complete joke. They actually pay a guy to go around and tell people how the bar reviews every single advertisement and they have to live up to these standards. It’s all bullshite.

Interesting little bit of history: Morris Bart out of New Orleans basically invented what we now think of as the billboard lawyer. Cellino & Barnes out of New York learned it from him.
