So to clarify…. it’s smoking related, not any use?

Big pharma funding this study?
If so, it’s indirectly through organizations:
quote:
Sources of Funding
Dr Jeffers was supported by National Cancer Institute grant T32 CA113710. Dr Jeffers and Dr Keyhani were supported by National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute grant 1R01HL130484-01A1. The funding organizations are public institutions and had no role in the design and conduct of the study; collection, management, analysis, and interpretation of the data; preparation, review, or approval of the article; and decision to submit the article for publication.
And maybe here:
quote:
Disclosures
Dr Glantz serves as a consultant to the World Health Organization outside the submitted work. The remaining authors have no disclosures to report.

I’m no expert but I have read THC raises blood pressure for about 30 minutes then lowers blood pressure and this is why your eyes turn red due to lowered blood pressure.
If this is true I don’t see how edibles would raise the risk of heart attack or stroke in otherwise healthy people.
Now if you’re overweight and have high blood pressure anyway and you take a substance that raises your BP for 30 minutes I can see this would be a problem. But these people would have had a problem anyway just not as soon.

Surprise, surprise… there may be something to those traditional values after all.

Yes, they are quite defensive of their addiction.

Fortunately they'll just sit on the couch and bitch about it. If they were drunks they'd punch holes in the wall and give their SO a black eye.

Any time I see any article labeled with, "Studies show...," or anything that references some study, my propaganda flags go up and doubt enters. There is always an underlying agenda.

Smoking, vaping or eating marijuana is linked to a significantly higher risk of heart attack and stroke, even if a person had no existing heart conditions and did not smoke or vape tobacco, a new study found.
Not surprising when you consider that people who take of themselves with normal Dr check ups, and leading healthy lifestyles such as eating good and exercising are regular weed users.

I know the stoners will beat you up on this but definitely should be a concern.
One of my best buds started smoking in his early teens, and is having heart problems now. Was an athletic guy in his youth, football RB and even tested himself with a triathlon in his late 20s. He's currently on his 2nd year of trying really hard at not smoking. The longest he has been able to go is almost 3weeks, so it's a process. Which is strange cause we are told it's not addictive.
His memory and heart are in pretty shape.
