I guess it’s not ok for public schools to recruit like the privates

The Cecilia - North DeSoto pissing match misses the point. Those two schools should have met in the state championship, then it would have been settled on the field.

Instead, another school cheated their way to a title and robbed those two from that opportunity.

I agree. And North Desoto was very good. I was mostly being a smartass to the poster who was certain it would not be competitive.

it's ok for both to recruit within the scope of the rules.

They had several kids with no paper work, at least 2 ineligible players that I know of, and had more than one coach actively recruiting kids to “transfer” to OHS for their senior year.

They just got caught doing what many schools continue to do.

Multiple schools turned them in. They had several kids with no paper work, at least 2 ineligible players that I know of, and had more than one coach actively recruiting kids to “transfer” to OHS for their senior year. They had players constantly in different numbers on the roster throughout the year and had names on the roster later in the year that were not on early season rosters. They got caught doing what everyone accuses private schools of doing. The LHSAA only did what everyone has been clamoring for, handing out consequences to schools that don’t follow the rules.

in other words, they ran a public high school football team like a rogue AAU Basketball team

So pure speculation on your part.
You must be a Cecilia coach. You sure seem to know a lot about OHS as a team and this situation.

It wouldn't have been competitive. That train would have rolled tf over y'all.

Maybe, but y’all didn’t do your part and show up…we did.

You're reaching wildly.

North DeSoto and Cecilia both had issues defensively.

ND allowed over 100 points in its first two games.

Airline had a great offense, but 53 points is 53 points.

And Center (Tx.) was a shootout, too. Another team with a potent offense and weak defense.

Hilarious if you or anyone believes that’s true.

There are very very few schools that have 100% in zone kids.

Word is that there were a couple of kids out of zone/district on the team AND, not my words here: there was at least one kid on the Opelousas team that played football at another school not that far down the road this past season and then after his team lost out of the playoffs just hopped on over to join the Opelousas team DURING the playoffs.

Take that for what it’s worth but it came from someone with direct knowledge of the situation.

Crazy as that sounds, I beleive if it was a bona-fide move, you can actually do that.

Now, there's going to be a lot of questions as to whether or not this was a bona-fide move.

At what point do we throw up our hands and say, if you are eligible to attend the school, and you make the grades, then you are eligible to play high school sports for 4 years?

In an era of charter schools, virtual schools, magnet schools, distict-wide zones, etc, the address stuff is absolutely rampant. EVERYONE is cheating according to the LHSAA definition of cheating... very few are getting caught.

Push it back on the school boards to decide what kids they will accept in their schools.

Probably missing LHSAA paperwork.
