This is probably a 'test' of our satellite vulnerabilities and it's not looking good.
Cell phones don't use satellites, dude.

I've seen a few official tweets from police departments that idiots are using their SOS to call 911 and ask about the outage.

You don't believe the folks working the code upgrade, or whatever maintenance was happening at 0300, didn't immediately react when they saw shite hitting the fan?
I’m sure they did, I just don’t know that I trust anything the AT&T corporate types and spokespeople say.

Instead of Tom, Dick, and Harry; it’s now Tom and Hairy Dick? I’ll have to switch it up now. And yes, your energy is always awesome. Next Tuesday could be a day as well.

I dickered the saying once and liked it, so I use it all the time now.
Yeah, we have a an early Spring-like chance developing next week. Gonna be a while until any kind of details are clear for this one, though.

I was joking about an EMP/CME in a prior post but this "expert" is saying it is likely a CME:
LINK
ETA: on earth we are going more vulnerable to CME's because we are currently going through a magnetic pole shift. (track the poles her on NOAA map view from 1590 to 2024) As the poles shift the magnetosphere become weaker and less shielding occurs so more of the sun's electromagnetic radiation hit's the earths surface. This impacts electronic equipment...the Lorentz force and all.

quote:We used to have a handful of business landlines and maybe a dozen cell phones with them. A few years back their local node went down and they didn't have a replacement part on hand even though they KNEW it had been failing slowly for months. Business had no phone service for 6 days and all they initially offered was a 1 day credit for each day I called in and complained. By the end of that week they realized we weren't going to pay that month's bill at all and they ended up mailing us a check to cover another month of service. That money went to another phone provider and I haven't given them another dime since.

Friend of mine works for Secureworks, (may have changed names) cybersecurity arm of Dell. His job is auditing/hacking/securing major corporations from cyber attacks. He's unsure as to whether it was/is a cyber attack.
I value his opinion over yours, you goob.

Would a solar flare cause a eSIM card issue like is being speculated? It's looking less like a cyberattack and more like incompetence on AT&T. Shocker I know.

If it is AT&T the wise bet is always incompetence.

I don't believe there is a single competent person working for AT&T today. They have yet to prove me wrong on that belief, and I've given them plenty of opportunity.
