Well I'm assuming the people in power had a reason for the US and Soviet Union to collaborate the moon landing. We've been financing them since at least the early 1900s.
We got into WW1 because we allowed Germany to sink the Lusitania. We left that ship without escorts knowing what would happen. WW2. Same thing. We knew the Japs would bomb Pearl Harbor. Every war we've been in has been fabricated. It's not out of the question to fabricate a moon landing when someone stands to gain from it.
But let's say we went to the moon. Why haven't we sent a man there since 1972? Did we find something that scared us? If we had the capability to get to the moon, Mars should have been next. In 50 years our technology today makes us look like the stone age in the 60s. It doesn't cost that much extra to put actual people inside a spacecraft but we are talking about the government. If the technology exists to travel in space, it's probably not NASA doing the work.
The truth is we don't know shite because the ones in power want to keep us in the dark. What's going in Area 51 and Antarctica that only a select few are allowed to see? It's probably technology that we can only dream about and they don't want the general public to get their hands on it. Like free energy or something that they can't control. I don't know.
It's not our government vs another government. The people in charge are distributed around the world. They show us what they want us to see, and the truth is somewhere out there, in movies, TV shows, etc but we don't know what's real. This whole life could be a hologram or someone's ant farm. We don't know.

We didn’t have the capability to stay in 1972. Or really do anything beyond what the Apollo missions did—poke around a bit and bring back some samples.
The Soviets flew the white flag in the space race and NASA shifted focus to manned space stations in earth orbit. Public sentiment and tolerance for huge NASA budgets waned as the Cold War wound down ended. We retired the shuttles last decade, but we used four decades of building stations in orbit to understand how to do it and do it well.
Now we have Artemis. We are going back. Next year, actually. We’ll have a permanent manned base in lunar orbit within several years, and a permanent base on the surface by 2040. These things have the express goal of facilitating missions to Mars.
We would have gone back sooner, but the War on Terror and Great Recession killed the Constellation and original Orion programs in the mid 00’s.

Not just ours. I said every space and intelligence service on Earth for 7 decades. Hundreds of thousands if not millions of people. That doesn’t even include private institutions that also now have the ability to observe what’s happening in space and the remnants of the Apollo missions.
