China spends so much time trying to recreate or reengineer our stuff they miscalculated their own population by multiple 10s of millions.

I’m going to say this once until it’s disproven, we are a nation Unipower. We took the military industrial complex as our road map and once we entered ww2 it was over. Used to work for a top end cyber security firm that went up against the Chinese pretty regularly. To the point where when they found out I worked there, I was attacked within hours. The likely reason this APT doesn't have US targets is that's not their assignment. There's multiple APT's over there. They're all CCP military. They are absolutely deadly. If they're not better than us, they're the closest to it. The reason being that while we are technical masters, they have the advantage of finding their best hackers at a really early age, then they steer them into it as kids, educate them fully with that in mind, then they go to work for the CCP for the rest of their lives.

In the US, our best hackers go to private industry because the government can't compete with the high dollar amounts those people are worth. It got so bad that the feds dropped drug testing because that was the thing keeping a lot of these guys from white hatting for the USofA. They tend to do a ton of adderol and weed. But all they end up getting put on the same stuff they'd likely be working on if they were on the government payroll instead of a contractor. I know people that are on US APT's. They don't work for the government directly. But wooooooweeeeeeee do they make bank.

You don't learn to be a top end hacker. You're born to it. And they know how to find them. And no, they aren't finding them in college. Anybody gets into college with a hacker's brain won't make it to graduation without getting head hunted.

Sounds cool though right? Right up till you find out the breach you are working on at the NGO that promotes dissidents speech rights is the reason for a couple hundred dissident's getting disappeared. Because they got into the books and found all the disbursements into China and hunted every one of them down before that NGO even knew they'd been breached.

China doesn't play.
