Olave reminds me of Brandin Cooks. Sell high.

If you say so, I guess I'll take your word for it. I've never heard this criticism any where other than this message board so i'll take it with a grain of salt. The only thing I remember seeing is Carr yelling at him that one time and Carr is an idiot so it doesnt hold much weight for me. The guy has alot of talent and would thrive in many systems. No he isn't the strongest WR out there but he's fast, runs great routes and is a threat all over the field. Back to back 1000 yard seasons his first two years in the nfl. It could be worse. He will most likely never get the chance to light it up in New Orleans because of Carr and this offense.

Cooks was always the comp with his frame.
What we didn't expect was the Cooks-esque attitude

Carr aint gonna be here forever and great receivers don’t need future HOF QB’s to be great. They’re great on their own. TO was putting up huge numbers while throwing Jeff Garcia under the bus because he thought he was gay. Look at the shitty arse QB’s (including a certain QB’s older bro) that Andre Johnson was blessed with in Houston.
He’s a nice player and it’s not his fault Loomis is a gobshite and traded up for him. But why our fans act like we’ve got the second coming of Jerry Rice and he’s being held back by that pesky quarterback is so weird. He’ll never be on 2019 Mike’s level.

What is the point of that link. I've already seen the handful of people on here bitching about him not running hard. No one else outside of this board is saying this about him.
No one is calling him jerry rice. Carr does suck and they have very little chemistry.
2019 Michael Thomas had 185 targets from a hall of fame quarterback. All that success got to his head and he's been the biggest cancer this organization has ever seen since then. You think he would've taken Olave under his wing and been a good influence. If there are any character flaws with Olave its probably because he learned them from Mike.

WR1 means your #1 wr on your depth chart. Some team's WR1 wouldn't be a WR1 on other teams, but it is still their #1. There are 32 WR1s in the NFL. There will never be 32 elite WRs in the NFL.

when I think of a WR1, I think of a guy who can be simply unguardable at times. A guy who can take games over on offense
That's not the definition of a #1 WR. You described an ELITE WR, but what qualifies one as a #1 is size and skillset.
Is Olave overrated? I think so, because he is incredibly inconsistent and petulant on the field. He did not live up to his billing this year. Can he though? Absolutely. He has the talent, but he needs to mature to maximize it. I think he will take a little more time than others, because he's a bit immature as a player.
Your premise is ridiculous as is the OP's. Why does everyone on this board take things to such extremes? It's as if none of you can see nuances in anything. It's either all time great or bust. The internet has ruined us as a culture and as people, and many of you here are an example of this.

100% agree. They name the top 5 wrs in the NFL and act like that's the standard for any and all WR1s. Ridiculous

Mike was fine all year until the Minnesota game. Hardly a peep and never questioned his commitment. THEN that game happened and whe went off
All i ever see with Olave on here is excuses excused excuses.
His QB sucks!
His team sucks!
The ball wasn’t thrown right at him!
Mike Thomas poisoned him!
Kenner PO-lice are out of control !
He’s a good but not great receiver who wasn’t worth trading up for and will never be great.
Posted on 2/20/24 at 11:33 am to S
Never be great?
I believe in possibility more than you. As you said he's good. And he didn't give away all those picks the FO did. Back in the old days it was said 3 years for most WRs to show what they got. Who knows how pro's can improve or not. Certainly not me.

Hey i hope im wrong but he’s gotta ditch this shite attitude he had most of last season. I felt like the last 3-4 games he was more engaged and enjoying himself.

It's a weak arse WR room we have as someone pointed out. Mike should
be gone. We need good coaching and some veteran presence in that room. It can't hurt.

I do think that we need another big receiver to help blocking the run game kind of like Brandon Coleman. Trequan Smith and Devery Henderson were both good blockers too.
Olave and Shaheed are going to be the guys who get the separation.
Mike T is a pretty good blocker but it sure doesn't look like he's coming back the way things have kind of gone off the rails there.

Mike has been a shite show for the past 3 seasons. He’s a lost cause waste of space cancer.
Out of all the things you could bitch about, It’s very strange your bitching about one of the best players on our team. Maybe we drafted Olave a little early, but I mean how is that his fault? He hasn’t proven to be a bust. He has a solid amount of production given his usage. If you want him to produce more he’s going to need a better offense around him.
On the other hand Michael Thomas has proven to be a shite human being. Idc how good he was at football he’s a scumbag

Well the more i read what you’ve been saying it just reads like the typical saints talk “grrr mike thomas = cancer”

Already addressed that one
I’ll wait another year before crowning him “one of the best”
Posted on 2/20/24 at 2:16 pm to jamal
He could be just as good but he can't take plays off.
Posted on 2/20/24 at 2:46 pm to S
On top of being a horrible person MT is old, slow, washed and irrelevant as a player.
I’m not crowning him anything. He’s “one of the best” we have because the rest of our team is terrible talent wise. You should be bitching about Cam Jordan or our TEs or something else. Olave is the only offensive player I’m not worried about lol. Whether or not he becomes a superstar WR1 I have no idea. Most likely no, unless he get traded somewhere else

Lol what? Yea he’s older and not the same productive difference maker he was but you know what he has that Olave doesn’t? A fricking frickload of credit in the bank.
