Treyquan Smith has better hands and is a way better blocker than Chris Olave.

I agree he has not reached potential and I think we should give him another season before coming to a verdict. But I would be happy if he was a top 15 receiver

Yeah, I'm a moron. For some reason, I thought the discussion changed to olave compared to other big time WRs... I assumed smith was Davonte. I'll sober up now

That's what WR1 means

Most teams don't have a WR1

Eh probably not that good but its hard to say as he's yet to play with a good QB/offense. I think the potential is there for him.

Olave could play with prime Dan Marino and he’d still be a pouty sulking bitch unless he’s getting a WR1 level target load. He also still wouldn’t be able to complete a contested catch and fall over during blustery conditions.

Think it just depends how many you describe as elite. Top 16-18 sure. Top 12 doubtful with his physicality limitations.

He’s never going to be that monster that a defense simply can’t gameplay against and that’s ok.

St. Brown was highly productive this season and would be a WR 1 on some teams also, I think.

1,500 yards, ten touchdowns, and an average of 12 plus yards … yeah don’t think too hard. He is a beast.

Olave has shown that he is engaged when he is treated as WR1.

Meaning in the few games where we have entered with injuries and less than WR option in 2022 Olave had some good games. Some dominant games.

With the emergence of Shaheed and Johnson in the offense Olave seemed to lack focus as to when he would get the ball.

I mean I like shaheed but his production isn’t on Olave’s level so idk why you consider him to be better. Because you like him?

Are any of these “WR1s”?

Colston first two seasons w/ Brees

30 games
258 targets
168 rec
2,240 yards
19 TDs

Mike Thomas first two with Brees

31 games
270 targets
196 rec
2382
14 TD

Olave first two with Dalton/Winston/Carr

31 games
257 targets
159 rec
2165 yards
9 TD

Same amount of touchdowns on nearly half the targets. And only 400-ish yards off Olave’s total. Also adds value in the return game. You’d think he was the guy the morons running this team traded up for but unfortunately thats Obume

I tend to like big play threats, yes.

If Olave played with the toughness and attitude Shaheed displays we wouldn’t we having this discussion.

Saints fans want so bad to have something to cling to for the future so they overlook this guy’s subpar effort and horrendous energy. You’d think people from a city that thrives on energy would pick up on that. I was calling him out for loafing about during that week 3 loss to tampa. Kid’s a year 2 wr not even in the best of the league discussion out here acting like Terrell Owens. FOH

Terrible Take. he is adequately rated. main stream don't really talk about him and he has made some impressive catches this year.

Here's his drop % this season compared to the best in the game in their 2nd season...

Jefferson 4.2%
Chase 8.2%
Lamb 6.7%
Hill 3.4%
Brown 4.7%
Olave 4.3%

And people still want to draft a WR in the first round.
