(When Gary Plauché offed Jeff Doucet) I remember this like yesterday ...

Gary Plauché waited at the airport for Jeff Doucet, who had kidnapped his son, Jody — then shot him dead as cameras rolled.
Gary Plauché
After Gary Plauché learned that Jeff Doucet had kidnapped and raped his young son Jody, he took deadly revenge right in front of news cameras on March 16, 1984.
On March 16, 1984, a Louisiana father’s unfathomable grief and rage culminated in a homicide that was captured on live television. Gary Plauché’s 11-year-old son Jody had just been returned to him from the clutches of a predator, Jeff Doucet, who had groomed and molested him for more than a year.
Gary Plauché was relieved to have his son back, but he had little faith in the justice system to punish the boy’s kidnapper. So when police marched Jeff Doucet through Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport following his arrest, Plauché was waiting — with a gun in his boot.
As news cameras rolled, Gary Plauché shot Jeff Doucet dead. When officers immediately asked him “Why, Gary, why?,” he simply responded, “If somebody did it to your kid, you’d do it, too.”

So what happened to Father and Son afterwards and where are they today?
quote:
Plauché was given a seven-year suspended sentence with five years' probation and 300 hours of community service, receiving no prison time.
Anyone have anymore pertinent info?
I hope life has gone well for all survivors, their family.
It was justice served.
What would the differences be if the exact same series of events happened today?
Downvote if you like to gobble peen and swallow.
ETA: 40th Anniversary is upcoming. We should discuss this again soon Brothers. Next time we'll answer the question, "what if this happened today, under FJB and this DOJ?"

If only there were someone on this board with inside knowledge

I mean you can ask Jody, he posts here. Seems like a decent enough dude.
If I remember correctly, he understands what his dad did and why, but wishes he didn't.

The degen died that day. The hero died years later. The victim is still around, sometimes closer than you think.

You can ask Jody how he's doing. He's a good dude and posts here a ton.

Had no clue.
I was living in Vicenza, Italy, up north, at the time as part of an Airborne Regiment there. I was at my girlfriend's cottage, woke-up to see the clip being played over and over again on the Italian "Good Morning" Show.
There were at least two similar executions later that year in Southern Italy that many claimed were the result of (encouraged by) this particular event.

I used to drink beer in Addison Texas (part of DFW) with Jeff Plauche' Gary's brother. He was a great guy and we had a million laughs while listening to his stories
He was a seafood broker and serviced DFW
Jeffrey L. Plauche' Sr., belovedly known as Papoo, who lived on False River in Ventress, Louisiana, passed away on September 26, 2016. He was a graduate of Louisiana State University and worked as a food broker for many years. Captain of the cheerleading squad at LSU, he helped encourage the Tigers to win the National Football Championship in 1958. Jeff and his father created the legendary Tiger chant: "Hot Boudin, Cold Cush Cush, C'mon Tigers, Push Push Push," which is still cheered by students, alumni, and fans today.

Nah. Most on this board talk about what they would do if it were their kid. Just look at the threads about that chick that got into the car with a bunch of thugs and got raped. Soooo many posters say they'd kill those kids. But we all know not a damn one of them would do shite. Gary Ploche actually did do shite. Everyone admires him for dirt napping that motherfricker.
