From Cajun Grocer.com
Cliffs and mentioned phrases were..
"Saltwater intrusion"
"Drought conditions"
Basically saying a shorter season and won't be able to ship live until April.
I'm curious if anyone has any sort of evidence of saltwater creeping it's way north of I-10 into Eunice or Crowley. If so, please feel free to reply. Jesus, what a pathetic excuse.

It’s just going to be a down year. It happens.

Had a farmer tell me the salt gets in their eyes and they don’t want to have sex.

It doesn't matter what people who actually know say, you idiots won't believe it and will just blame it on crawfish farmers price gauging. Then, someone will come along and say that prices go up every year.
Wash, rinse, repeat......for every single crawfish thread.

So it’s what, 5 lbs to 1 peeled lbs at the store, something along those lines. Why is my local grocery store able to sale local, from Mamou crawfish for $9.99 peeled, but $9.99 a lbs with the shell, live?

How difficult would this be? Seems like the sparkling clear solution.

Saltwater definitely didn’t get north of I10. Most if not all farms north of I10 use deep water wells. Water straight from the water table. Farms south of I10 use more surface water (water from bayous) that’s where the saltwater intrusion happened.

Not that hard. I love crawfish but refuse to pay the prices I see now. I’ll go with shrimp. But too many people go ahead and buy no matter what the price is, and then bitch. fricking it up for everyone else while they are at it. Don’t buy, prices will drop.

It’s simple if you can’t afford or it’s not feasible don’t buy them. It’s not a good situation all around from the producer to the restaurants to the consumer. My catch this week is still off by 75% off of what I normally catch during this time of the year. Prices should continue to decrease. We might get a price drop as early was Monday which should get all the restaurants down to $8-$9.50 a pound boiled.

This X1000
The Rouses guy packaging these couldn’t believe there are people buying at this price, but they are. Literally a handful of tiny crawfish for just under $20

Yeah, that’s ridiculous to pay that for what amounts to barely a tease.

Shame on Rouses for selling leftover crawfish for $11lb that’s ridiculous

Yep! I have gone from cooking 6-8 times a year to zero over the past 2 years. It just isn't worth it.

Never thought I’d say this. But crawfish are a bunch of pussies.

It’s more like 12/1 or 13/1. The tails you see if from Louisiana have been frozen since last May. When you open the bag you can smell them and they’ll be hard when cooked.
Salt water intrusion along the coast affects fields that pump water from bayous or other surface areas. Those fields have never been flooded since last summer. Rains we got lately will probably have no effect on any kind of supply for this year. They’ll plant rice in another week if they have enough fresh surface water now.

Another thing- I see ads for frozen boiled crawfish from Egypt. It’s Chinese crawfish repackaged to get around tariffs. The buffets with crawfish are using this.

Ok, so you're implying the price should be different from a catch out of Iota as opposed to Abbeville?

Usually takes pepper spray to discourage me

Just buy the Chinese shite. If enough people just do this, the local industry will learn.
