There's absolutely zero political agenda attached to Flint being gay.
And even though his love for Thomas is crucially important to the story, it's barely even mentioned throughout the series. No gratuitous gay love scenes or anything of that nature.

If anyone knows the name of the song that’s playing during the Thomas/flint reveal I would really like to know. I don’t think they ever released the OST for season 2 and maybe the song is nation of thieves from season 1 but I’ve always thought it was a different song.

I tried to Shazam it and nothing came up for it. And TuneFind didn't have any music listed for the episode either.

There’s one gay pirate. And technically, he’d be bi. There are more than enough titties to make up for the one gay scene that is 10x less gay than some stuff you’d see on Game of Thrones.
You’re really missing out on an all time great show if you let that stop you. Not even remotely close to Our Flag Means Death, there’s no “gay pirate agenda” being pushed. I can’t believe I actually had to type that out
