Here we go again with Caitlin Clark breaking Pistol Pete’s record

Around the Horn just said Caitlin Clark is breaking Pistol Pete’s record.
I’m not sure what’s so hard about understanding that the men’s and women’s games are completely separate sports and that the records stand separately.
Pistol Pete did not have a three point line or any of the easy things about the women’s game working to his advantage. Also, he played against men which trumps anything women’s basketball players can do.

Imagine watching Around the Horn in the year 2024

Oh good. I was hoping I’d missed the daily reincarnation of this meaningless topic.
Ignore them. No record book anywhere says “Pete Maravich: combined NCAAM and NCAAW record holder”
Hers won’t either

Let them say what they want. It's the media and they want views. People that know sports know that Pistol Pete's record is still standing. 3 years of varsity vs her 4. Just look at the ppg that tells you how amazing he truly was without a 3 point line or shot clock.

Why are you watching? It's difficult to imagine a greater waste of hours than watching people discuss sports on tv.

Could you imagine how many more points Pistol would have scored if he played against girls?

Why do y'all care so much? And if you have this stance, are you just saying that no one will ever be able to break the scoring record for the rest of time, no matter how many points they score?

The morning news shows we’re saying that it will be the all time NCAA record for most points scored in any division.
It’s so stupid these are 2 different records - a men’s and a women’s.

Only brain-dead people fail to understand the difference between Clark’s record and Pete’s record.

I read and article that siad they projected Marovich would have scored over 4500 points with either A) 4th eligible year or B) 3 point line.
Thats just fricking ridiculous
Side Note: Clark is a great player but she hasnt even topped the womens' all time points record yet set by the girl out of Kansas back in the 60s or 70s. Just because the NCAA doesnt recognize it doenst mean it didnt happen. She still has about 150 points to go to make that happen.

They only do this for women’s records. This o e, if a female coach has most wins, they say “most of men’s and women’s.”
If a dude does it they’ll just say “meds record.”
I don’t actually care either way, but it’s fun to spot the differences
Besides, PM didn’t play a full career at LSU, didn’t have a 3 pt line, averaged over 44 a game, etc. Every basketball fan knows the deal, they’re just playing to recency/gender bias and a dumb basketball audience.
