I'd eat the chicken and watermelon but waffles with syrup is extremely unhealthy.
As a chronic GI patient I can testify that the greasy fried chicken is worse for the gut than the waffles and syrup (carbs). The grease would have me in the ER/admitted, the carbs would spike my glucose and maybe contribute to dental caries (cavities).

Especially items that reinforce negative stereotypes concerning the African-American Community.
I still fail to see how this is negative. Nothing wrong for being known to like delicious foods. It's like a Cajun being offend for being associated with boudin.

That was true a long time ago. The modern findings are that carbs are worse than grease. And then there's pizza which is super high in carbs, grease and salt.

Where are they getting watermelon in February?

chicken and waffles with watermelon. Forget the racial undertones, how in the hell do they get that and our kids get a hardshell taco with mystery meat..or a plain hot dog.

Apologizing for serving cultural food is what allows it to hang around. Food isn't a negative stereotype and it's idiotic to treat it as such.
That was my point.

Some stores import it from Mexico. Price is higher. Don't know how fresh it is.

Of all the stereotypes of the black community, this is not the one I would focus on correcting.

Obviously tone deaf AF,
How specifically is it tone deaf?
Is it racist to celebrate Italian heritage by serving pasta?
Or Mexican cuisine with Taco Tuesday?
Absolutely not. It’s the exact opposite.
We have to stop tolerating this offense culture driving our thoughts, politics and discourse.

Looks like a damn good meal

It's tone deaf because it was obviously going to get picked up and ran with in social and news media and cause an apology etc. I remember when Kmart dropped some golfer for saying "is the Masters going to serve fried chicken and watermelon?" as comments towards Tiger Woods.
In the South we don't see that meal as racist because there's almost no one down here who wouldn't look at that and say hell yeah. In the North it's considered a slur.

How are chicken and waffles or watermelon “negative” stereotypes?
Both items are fricking delicious.
