Powerman have you ever been to Russia?

Some cities like Saint Petersburg are nothing like most US cities. The Hermitage, the ballet, the palaces of the Czars. The people are very nice, the city impeccably clean, very safe. You can walk down the crowded streets at 1 in the morning in the summer with absolutely no worries, none, try that in the US.

Run by a dictator. Have you seen the govt that runs the US? Taxation without representation went out the window decades ago. The infrastructure is falling apart the country is being overrun by hordes that would make latter day Rome look tame by comparison. Crime is out of control, discrimination rampant and very blatant. The govt targeting anyone they view as not aligned with their beliefs rather true or not, simply due to their skin color and their support of the wrong politician. The media control would make Pravda blush. An education system that is more interested in indoctrination than education.

So get off your high horse and see that what the rest of the world sees, a dying dinosaur, the family silver has already been stolen, now the barbarians are stealing what is left of the furniture before heading to Europe and leaving your grandchildren with a debt that is insurmountable.

What is the obsession with pretending that Russia and Putin are awesome around here?

Probably because while he isn't a good guy, he does put Russia before other countries, calls out the degenerates that are trying to destroy the patriarchal culture that has kept societies glued for thousands of years, doesn't look to create a global empire, he's coherent, etc.

Just a stark contrast to the reprobates that are ruling this country.

A good dictator is better than Biden and the Democrats. They always have the same point of view. Biden, Schumer, Wray, Garland, Mayorkas.
Example Jan 6.

How do we know Putin is the dictator we’re told he is? The same people that told us the shot stopped the spread of Covid and all the other lies, are the same people telling us he’s a dictator. Wake up my friend. He may or may not be, but the only info we have on him comes from our lying media, which means we know nothing about him.

You are ignorant if you think the only info on Putin comes from the media. There are over 100 million Russians on the internet from every part of their country who talk about their country daily. You can spend some time browsing youtube and listen to them speak, or go on twitter, facebook, VK (Russian facebook)... saying "the only info we have on him comes from our lying media" is a you problem.

I guess you missed the mass migration of fighting aged men from Russia when Putin invaded Ukraine.

But if you like no freedom of speech, all rigged elections, a dictator that murders his criticizers, unlimited abortions, and shite winters, go right ahead and move.

Why would I need to move to get that? We basically have that already with Biden and democrats.

Fair point. How much is the average American researching those viewpoints though? Most people parrot what they hear in the mainstream media. And that media only tells us what they want us to believe. That Putin is a dictator and we need to send billions of dollars to stop him. Then send billions more.

Russians might think he IS a good guy. They probably think Biden is the corrupt one, and I'm certain they DGAF about what Americans think about their way of life.

The people who are leaving, for the most part, are skilled workers (mainly tech) looking for better employment opportunities abroad. They could probably help this nation immensely, but your party would rather fill the streets with filthy orange pickers who are much easier to manipulate.

I think the OP presents a fair question.

If the US is so empathetic to refugees that it will ignore all immigration law to allow people with dubious (to say the least) asylum claims to pour in. Why are we not tearing down barriers for war-torn refugees from the Ukraine and Russia? We took in hundreds of thousands from Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, and Somalia - over a third of all refugees from these nations were resettled here. Minneapolis is essentially run by Somalians now. Why not these guys? Many of them are skilled professionals that could help this nation grow.

You’re missing the point here. The left claims Russia is some backwoods 3rd world shithole full of oppression but they don’t advocate for taking in people from there like the do Central and South America. Why? Are those places worse than Russia or perhaps Russia isn’t nearly as bad as they make it out to be?
