And when he didn’t pitch Skenes at all in the best 2-3. I can’t remember if it was a major melt or just a handful of posters constantly bringing it up.

you have this mixed up. We didn't want to burn Skenes against a 4 seed. The weather was fine that game

Going to out myself here. I was outspoken on here about how Jay handled Jordan Thompson's slump in the postseason. At the time, I thought it would cost the team the championship and also thought it was wrong to subject Thompson to all the negative criticism.

In hindset, many of us were clearly wrong.

"MY decision, as a college baseball fan, is right & CJJ's decision as a college baseabll coach with decades of experience AND National & SEC COY was wrong"? This is a head coach who never left his room in Ohama except to play the games & to eat; spending all that time to game plan...what are the odds he gave the same amount of attention to his regional game planning? He's said that he didn't consider Tulane a true 4th seed, as they had played....and hit...very well in its conference tourney. I'll take his decision 100% of the time vs those of any fan's.

I don't even hate Moscona, but the way he reacts to certain things likes this makes me not like some of his strong takes. He acted so high and mighty on his baseball knowledge over Jay's assessment of his own team. Just let it play out and at least be critical if it doesn't work out.
I am somewhat of a Moscona fan, but I have a huge problem with him at times. It's as if no one has ever explained to him that there are issues upon which reasonable minds can differ.

Why didn’t you just say that you think Jay Johnson never, ever, ever makes a wrong decision.

Tulane had the very worst record in the tournament and one of the worst records of a tournament team in a decade. Are you telling me Jay Johnson trusted Ty Floyd to pitch well against Oregon State but didn’t trust him enough to allow him to go against Tulane?

Jay answered questions about his decision to start Skenes against Tulane and he never once mentioned weather (that came in for the second game of the regionals).

When Beloso lead off in the last game, I was like “what is he thinking?” And then , of course, he was right , I was not lol.

We also only used Skenes game 1 and no other arms. Freeing up everyone else the rest of the way

I honestly believe that people don't remember what our staff looked like on paper heading into the regionals.

I give credit to Jay Johnson because he got that staff together and had them perform at a level they didn't perform at during the regular season.

But, LSU was short handed on the mound after that Tulane game. And, everyone who watched that team all year, even if they trusted the decision, understood why there was concern.

Posts like this are so dumb. Just because a coach has experience and gameplans doesn't mean that he is immune to making a bad decision. Coaches can be fantastic and still make questionable decisions every once in a while..

People really hated Thompson and Jobert. Some also gave up on Hurd way too early.

A specific decision, aside from Skenes v Tulane, was Jay punting in some games to save quality arms for the next day or days.

The melt wasn't ab the weather. You dont burn a generational pitcher vs a 4 seed with a <.500 record with Oregon State on deck.

Yes, it ended up working out, but thats not the point

Not letting Skenes take a “victory lap” and pitch one out in the Monday game in Omaha. Not starting him was the right call, but him hurling one last out would have been a nice touch.

There were 9.2 million reasons why Skenes had no business taking the mound with a 14 run lead

He definitely punted game 2 against Florida in the finals after we got behind. Hated it at the time but it was 100 percent the right call

I melted too hard about throwing off in game 1 against south carolina when we were down 3 runs early. Ill own that one. I think choup has a reasonable take about the regional. I felt the same way

I certainly complained a few times throughout the season on some of these. But Jay was playing to win 2 out of 3 every weekend and as it turned out he played those correctly most times.

Cottonwasking wasn’t happy about Game 2 in the CWS finals, but I was there in Omaha and didn’t have an issue with it at all. We were pretty spent in the pen as it was, some once we fell behind by 5 or 6, knowing we still had another game of necessary, it was the right move to wave the white flag in that one. The only sad part was the score got record breaking out of hand. But after winning it all the next day, no one cares.

That was mine also. The score was only 3-1 in the 5th and with the forecast it was unlikely to get all three games in.
