Where is a good area to stay?

SE around Bert Kouns/Youree.
Just avoid the airport area really.

Are you driving through? A business trip? Need to be near downtown? It depends on your circumstances.

Hit up Frank’s pizza or Lucky Palace while you’re there. Definitely don’t stay at the Lucky Palace motel however.

Just pick a casino like Margaritaville really. Eat at Ki Mexico in Shreve.

I stayed here for a night when I was there on business a few years ago. It was fine. That boardwalk area had a few restaurants you could walk to.

Yeah, easy to deal with and parking is safe pretty much.

Downtown Hilton is fine. Parking garage. I've stayed there 100 times, not problem.

One of the Casinos, Hilton on North Market, Courtyard on the Boardwalk, or Springhill buy Louisiana Downs. Springhill is my least favorite only because it’s far away from everything.
I’ve been staying in a hotel there during the week for the last 2 months for work until I move there. I’ve stayed at all of these hotels.
As someone else said, stay away from the airport.

Then Dallas is actually a better answer. The path is from Austin, right over Dallas, and then towards Texarkana.
NW Louisiana is right outside the path of the total eclipse.

The hotel/casino had a pretty big parking lot so no issues there. You could walk to some chain restaurants in the evening, do a little gambling and have a few beers before bed. I'm not above chowing down at a Fuddruckers or Salt Grass

It's been a couple of years but I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn, Hampton Inn or Homewood suites at Exit 21 off I-20.
It was convenient to where I needed to go. Walked to Texas Roadhouse to eat.

I cannot understand why they don’t move.
