Flight advice needed (Vegas/LSU/Labor Day)

Cuse et. al esteemed airline and travel experts. Do you see airfare for the Labor Day weekend LSU game in Vegas improving at any point, or do we just go ahead and bite the bullet now? Thanks everyone

I’d worry more about them selling out before you pull the trigger. I doubt you’ll see fares drop much if any. And any promotion will have blackout dates which might include Labor Day weekend.
ETA: I just checked Southwest. They have already sold out the 8:20am LAS-MSY flight on 9/2. The rest are going for $692 each way, oof!

I'm in the same boat... flights are crazy high from both BR and NOLA.

Looking from Houston personally, imagine it is as bad if not worse from Louisiana.

The thing that sucks too is it has basically been this bad since November, which is earlier than the usual optimal window to book.

I'm curious as well since I don't even have my dates lined up yet as far as which day Th/F/Sat to leave and when to come back.
Guess looking at taking a connection somewhere...

Delta started running daily AUS-LAS which had some pretty good introductory fares. Also would get you further from the concentration of LSU fans who may be looking to go to the game.
It is still a holiday weekend in Vegas so will likely be busy regardless.

Found nonstop from Dallas for $354 leaving on Saturday 8/31 and returning Tuesday 9/3. If that helps at all.

Breeze Air from Gulfport could be an option. Allegiant Air in Shreveport too.

I paid about $550 per ticket on United. Thursdays to Tuesday. Layovers in Houston. This was after taxes and fees.

Thanks for all the suggestions folks
I ended up booking Southwest at about $650 per ticket all-in for non-stops.
Figured no worth risking a further spike, and if they do somehow release more flights at lower prices I can always re-book and keep the credit.
Once every 5 year type of LSU trip, and won't regret it if they win. If they lose another damn opener, god help us.

$692 each way?
That would be high for round trip.
They are price gouging the Tiger fans.
I probably got my better deal because we are staying extra days.

You played this right although those prices are sky high for many months out. I'd expect southwest to add another nonstop if they've got people booking these outrageous fares. Definitely keep an eye on it and rebook if the fares come down. Flight credit will be good for a year from booking date

If you’re flying SWA, you can get a refund of points or travel funds for the difference if the price goes down. Travel funds never expire on SWA.

I did not know that . Always thought it was a year from booking? I definitely had some flight credits expire during covid, wonder if they changed the rule as a result

They just changed the policy last year. They have a huge billboard outside of Love advertising that rn.

I just booked Shreveport-Vegas for 373$ for sat-wed on AA. For some reason it has been cheapest in state since I’ve been tracking.
