Anyone with a trade these days has a blank check as long as they are halfway reliable, dependable, and professional

I have a friend whose father owned a HVAC/Plumbing/Electrical company when he was growing up, so he learned all 3 by the time he graduated high school. Dude doesn't have a single college credit and is literally rolling in money. Mansion in Southlake, high-end sports cars, RVs, side-by-sides, etc. He started out turning wrenches, but has since been buying up other HVAC/Plumbing/Electrical companies. He no longer gets his hands dirty with the exception of all of the germs found on cash.

This is the truth. Service dept.’s in automotive and Atv/UTV dealerships cannot find enough workers, and the ones they do have are 40+ years old. A guy in teens or 20’s getting into this will be able demand anything once the older guys start retiring.

One of the most pervasive lies on this site told by people not in the trades.

I've said it numerous times, if you really think trades are a goldmine, walk into any supply house and ask the tired broken down men if they want their own kids to go into the trades.

Almost every tradesman I've had come to the house is busting their arse for mediocre pay. None of them have approached having a blank check.

It’s amazing how many people AREN’T any of those things. Plenty won’t even return calls or show up. Didn’t realize how bad it was until I moved onto some land in Folsom and needed a bunch of things done. It’s like pulling teeth trying to get people to take your money.

Yeah, but the money is peanuts when you start out. And the journeymen think it’s a rite of passage to treat apprentices like dogshit. That kind of shite is why no one wants to go into the trades anymore. This is coming from someone who went to trade school, tried it out, and left because the environment was so toxic

LOADS of jobs, wages have not kept pace with other industries for at least 40 years and is as bad today as it has ever been. I know OT Ballers will come up with welders at 25 making $150K a year and I have no doubt there are some but most ain't.

Basically anything scalable where your only limitation is the hours in the day. Trades for sure are the way to go rn.
