Would have to essentially have a stroke and someone notice I started having symptoms or my heart was beating out of my chest. Legit would have to feel like I was dying.

Can’t imagine going there for a headache or fever only to be sitting there for half the day before you are finally seen

Severe chest pain, serious injury, stroke. Something with my children that I wouldn’t feel comfortable with urgent care. That’s it

Went yesterday for carbon monoxide poisoning. No wait at all. They just rushed me straight back.

It's almost like there aren't millions of health conditions of severity between a stroke and a fever

If your kid is running 104 and it’s 2AM I’d hope you’d go to the ER.

A lot.

But others have been trained to use it as their primary care (including ambulance rides).

Last time I went was after a needle stick injury in the operating room during medical school.

Last time my wife went was for post-partum fever which resulted in a several day admission.

I would need a service I couldn’t provide myself or my kids in the next 6ish hours to go. And I’m now crazy enough to keep expired sutures and a sterile kit at home for myself, if needed.

You would be shocked the bullshite that comes in the ER. And a lot of lower social economic class individuals got nuttin' better to do. And don't worry they aren't paying.

Been there for kidney stones. Not something you can just “tough it out”

The 2 times I've gone to the ER as an adult, NOT including severe cuts/broken bones, I was beaucoup sick and the wife pestered me to the point I went just to stop her nagging. Man how I despise naggers.

I went last May for the first time in probably 20 years. Ate a cashew granola bar and my face blew up like an Avatar. Broke out in hives all over my body and tongue and throat swelled up.

Apparently I’m allergic to cashews now. Been eating them all my life.

I’d imagine the parents have a different take on this than non-parents.

When I was a kid my mom caught my appendicitis quick. Not because I was showing any major symptoms, just because of enough little things to catch her radar and take me in.

I went two weeks ago when a metal shovel handle broke off in my hand. Cut it pretty bad, took a few stitches.
