Do you drink because you enjoy the taste or just drinking to have a temporary reprieve (at least mentally) from your problems....

Seems like a lot of people use alcohol to relax and escape their problems.

Not sure anyone drinks it for the taste

IMO it’s all an escape from something. Alcohol, drugs……

I'm going to an AA meeting at 7:30 in morning, but to your question, it's all of the above. The mind finds any excuse to keep the cycle going.

I don't drink at all anymore and I was never a huge drinker, but when I did it was to have fun. I have only been black out drunk 2 or 3 times, but I always drank to get to a certain point then maintain it from there.

Some dance to remember. Some dance to forget.

Well, I unfortunately remember everything. From when I was 4 until today, so I guess I do a little bit of both.

I drink to remember the glory days of the OT back before weak minded cucks were on here all up in their feelings wondering why other grown arse men drank.

Always because I enjoy the taste, sometimes to take the edge off of a day, but never to forget. The day that sneaks up on me is the day I quit drinking cold turkey.

A drink helps me sleep all night long vs waking up several times.

A drink relaxes me after a day of strenuous physical labor.

A drink is a social observance sometimes.

I forget the other reasons I might have a drink.

I used to drink just to catch a nice buzz and enjoy myself. But I got to the point where I was starting at like 8 in the morning until 5-6 at night. I’d try to eat and then pass out. But it never worked because the problems were still there the next morning. Time after time after time. I got really bad. Had to quit before it killed me. Hardly any problems anymore and when there is one I handle it much better.

If I'm drinking, it's almost always socially.

I don't drink to get drunk. I drink to get numb.

I heard someone say "you don't drink to feel better, you drink to feel nothing"

Quit around Christmas last year. Alcohol ruins so many things.

I enjoy a glass or two of good red wine after dinner - the dry rich taste, interesting bouquet, and the relaxation after a full day of constant video calls, emails, and associated stress is my reward - it's my only vice and I go cold turkey for a few days a couple times a year to make sure it's not an addiction.

I tell myself I need to quit drinking, but I don’t listen to drunks.
