Despite the “fact” that no one uses Facebook anymore, Meta just reported record monthly active uses of 3.98 billion people globally. Monthly active users for Facebook specifically totaled 3.07 billion people, also a record.

To put that in perspective, there are “only” 8.1 billion people in the world. 49% of the entire world uses a Meta product at least once a month. 38% of the world uses Facebook specifically.

They also reported record revenue and record profitability per share. They’re now worth more than $1.1 trillion as a company.

Despite rumors of their demise around every corner, the fact of the matter is Facebook, Instagram, and other Meta products are the place where people are, and as a result, it’s the place where you advertise. I realize no one around here uses Facebook anymore , but most of your neighbors must be.

I’ve got my issues with Zuckerberg like most of you, but the business he’s built is astounding. I respect people who choose to avoid Facebook advertising for moral/ethical reasons, but unfortunately, it is getting harder and harder to argue that there is a better way to spend your ad dollars.

Don’t forget they own Instagram as well. That app is more universally used by both facebook’s first generations of users and now the younger generations that are all about Instagram.

“Get woke, go broke” is a conservative echo chamber saying. Woke companies suck, but the majority of them do make money because it’s what young people(the driving force of culture) are into. And that’s the cold hard truth. Value and culture changes over time and how businesses operate reflects that. Entertainment and pop culture reflect that. The world we all grew up in is not the same as the current world we live in.

Nobody under 40 uses FB anymore at least in the US. It’s a dying app

Zuck’s numbers were good last year because he fired 25% of their workforce. That’s a 1 time thing he can do.

I will short this thing to the floor. It will end up like MySpace when something new comes along. Think of FB like Cable TV. People will venture to the next thing.

FB seems to have stopped cracking down on fake users fwiw.
Last year I was checking in on several fake/attack user pages involving a particular political matter and despite being clearly and obviously fake and reported, FB wouldn’t remove them.

For example, there were many that were named almost the exact name of their opposition entity except one letter off and posting horrible things about the opposition, but nothing done to stop it.

The irony is a lot of people that would yell "go woke, go broke" are old boomers sharing that are constantly on FB 50 different inspirational quotes or stupid pictures "share if you love your family" type post. Or they have accounts like "Kristy N Troy" and are sharing stupid shite on facebook all day too.

“Reported” users and profit

Yeah, no cooking of the books there. And Joe Biden “reportedly” got the most votes in the history of ever.

I don’t use my traditional Facebook page, but I do use facebook groups A LOT. Additionally their marketplace is far superior to anything else out there. It’s far and away the best place to have something like local events, fishing reports, restaurant specials and hours, for sale items, etc.

Go woke go broke only applies to companies and brands that attract older conservatives (like Bud Light)

Companies that appeal to younger people don’t have this level of pushback.

Even the NFL is booming.
