Can’t do anything about weather.
Went to Chicago to see Cubs, White Sox, and Milwaukee one of the games rained out.
Went to Vegas for NASCAR. Rain for Xfinity.
Went to Charlotte for NHRA four wides and rain.
Sat in the rain at F1 in Singapore and would have enjoyed watching paint dry more.
Mother Nature can’t be controlled. We all know it when we plan these things months in advance.
I have gone to LSU games dragging RV with big plans and sitting there hoping the rain wouldn’t be bad to watch the game.
It is what it is. Doesn’t matter. The casual tv fan will try again if they have interest.
If it’s prime time on Monday, there will more than likely have more casual viewers.

IMO a lot of NASCAR’s crazed efforts to “attract new fans” have been destructive.
"Destructive" is a little harsh.
For as much criticism as the Chicago race got when it was announced, it scored massive ratings, even with the weather delays.
They got an international name like SVG to move here, and are rumored to be exploring races abroad.
There was a recent survey that reported NASCAR was more popular among Gen Z participants than UFC, NHL, or F1.
The recent Netflix series appears to have been successful.
This may not resonate with everyone here, but they also signed a contract with iRacing for console gaming. Having an annual video game series again is a brilliant way to tap into a younger market.
Not everything NASCAR does is good, but at least they're trying, and some of it seems to be working at the moment. Adapt or die, I suppose.

A 1979 race. Thats what ya got?
1979 is 10 years closer to WWII than to now.

The 2001 Pepsi 400, the '07 Daytona 500, and the '01 Atlanta spring race are all good ones, also

I’m of the opinion that had Dale Earnhardt not been killed in it, the 2001 Daytona 500 would be considered one of the best races ever. It was a very good race. The winner was someone that most people liked. Everything was good about it other than Stewart’s flip and Earnhardt’s fatal crash.

They should push the race back an hour or more to try to get most of the race into the primetime window. Busy during the day so that doesn't do much for me but I would love a Monday night Daytona 500.

The 2012 Daytona 500 was at night and was a stellar race.

And here we go … NASCAR teams have hired one of the country’s top antitrust and sports lawyers to advise them in their ongoing dispute with the family-owned stock car series over a new revenue-sharing model.

That 1979 race is the most important in NASCAR history. It was the first flag-to-flag live coverage of a NASCAR event, right as ESPN was about to start up, Petty's last 500 win, Earnhardt's RotY season, and of course, that fight.

Pretty sure there was a World Series game postponed because of snow a few years ago.
It's a long story but without a rainout it's even less likely the Cardinals win the 2011 World Series
The rainout allowed Chris Carpenter to pitch in Game 7 on short rest
ETA: the more I think about it, may not have been the WS, maybe have been an earlier playoff series that year but either way they wouldn't have advanced without it in all likelihood

Due to lingering rain this morning, this Xfinity Series race will now be after the Daytona 500.

Nothing can be done about it, but damn, Nascar can't catch a break.

Dang…I was up and ready to watch the race this morning. I have to work tonight so the 500 will get recorded.

The good news is that the rain is on the way out and will probably be over in the next hour or so. There *shouldn’t* be any issues with starting the Daytona 500 on time.
Since there was a limited window of time to try to get the Xfinity Series race over with before the Daytona 500, just delaying it until after the 500 was probably the safer option to avoid any further delays to the 500.
