I hope he does. And that he has immediate massive success.

What a look for aTm that would be.

Why the hell would he want to coach ever again when he gets to collect $70m+ ???

For the same reason most guys coach until they are 70 or older, they are competitive and want to coach. I'm not saying Jimbo is good or will have success, but the man is only 58 years old. I'd be surprised if he never coaches again. Some Power 5 school will need a coach in the next couple of years and Jimbo's ego will be too much to say no.

Maybe.

Have you ever met the folks in West Virginia? They would love a consistent 8-9 wins a year. Plus the Big12-2-2+2-2+4+4 is a lot easier of a conference than the SEC.

Imagine him and Saban being on opposite sides of the game day desk arguing with each other each week.

Jimbo is going to hunt and fish for the rest of his life and can do so living off of interest from his earnings.

Unreal.

Dude got $100M from A&M and millions more from FSU in his career. He could have $1B before he dies - by doing nothing for the rest of his life and letting his money grow in the market. He doesn't need to go to another booster club meeting ever again.

A&M made sure Jimbo would never have to work another day in his life.

most of the bottom half of the Power 5 schools would love to have someone do what Jimbo did at A&M.

the top half would laugh at it though.

Jimbo wasn’t the issue at A&M and neither was Kevin Sumlin. The sooner A&M fans realize that and demand that their top boosters be told to sit the frick down and just write the checks and stop pretending like they know how to coach football the better off great program will be.

You don’t even need that kind of money to live very comfortably just on interest. 4.6 million will do just nicely.

I think that HC should be divided into two categories : HC before and HC after.

HC Before: the good old days
HC After: after NIL and after multiple portals and supporting rules.

HC Before coaches could be doing a "Song of the South" dance

Brer Rabbit being the HC before
Brer Fox being the AD and wealthy alumni
and the Briar Patch being the modern equivalent of Scrooge McDuck's money filled Vault.

Who wouldn't take the vault over players who jump ship continually but expect the slightly less talented teammates to make them look great, or they are out the soonest portal.

If I'm 58 and made lots of money and someone throws another 95 million at me...I'm never working again.

Fat alimony and child support checks each month. He made sure to make enough to cover that and then mailed it in

Just an assumption, but his buyout more than likely contained an offset clause. That means that any pay he got from another coaching job would count against his buyout. While money from other things necessarily wouldn't go toward offset (tv appearances, NIL, booster paid appearances, etc) the salary would.

In essence, why coach for free? Why go through the stress and strain, to make nothing more? He'd be wiser to get a college commentator gig on TV/radio/podcast. That money he would get to keep in addition to his buyout.
