Don’t know. But JP is becoming a 3rd world country and starting to rival NOLA. Mexican restaurants everywhere, don’t need more, streets that will take the bottom of your car off, crime leeching from Nola. The council sucks and needs to be completely replaced.

some of you don’t live in reality I swear.

Pipes are old
The metro area is sinking
There’s a ton of weight on top the pipes
Pipes are old

This shite happens, and JP worked overnight to fix it. I understand it’s an inconvenience but good lord.

It’s good they did, but it shouldn’t have happened. They know the pipes are old. A minor inconvenience, but we had plenty of water and have been through weather events without utilities. It’s an overall thing, not just this. Metairie is going downhill and has been for a good while.

My water was barely at a trickle last afternoon and last night. Just enough to run the faucet, take some semblance of a shower, and have the toilet fill up after a period of time. Befoer midnight they shut the water off entirely. The trickle was back on this morning.

At least I give them credit for having it completely shut off during the overnight hours.

I can't imigine everyone in the MSY Airport being told they couldn't use the bathrooms. What was the result of that?

Wait, what? I just boiled several pots of water last night and this am. Is that not protocol?

The problem is there is only 1 pipe feeding all of the east bank JP water supply from the river. If something happens to that one pipe, you get what happened.

It was easy to find because it happened to the one pipe that could cause this. Don’t act like it was some amazing feat to fix.

It’s a shame that that this known dependency on one pipe was known for ages, but politicians decided to ignore it and do nothing about it.

Shout out to our fearless JP leaders who probably ignored this for a bit, until now.

Sucks. I'm home sick. I filled my toilet with puke and then couldn't flush it until the morning.
I didn't want to use bottled water for that.

They’re all in DC for Mardi Gras except Cynthia Lee was on the news last night but I’m sure she’s on a flight heading there now

I don’t care we don’t have running water. I am not canceling travel ball practice today. You can drink your sweat if you are thirsty!

Well, if that's true, she must have had her stunt double doing a press conference at 9:00a this morning.

I was under the impression that the break was on the distribution side of the system, not the raw supply side.

I don't know how much water is stored at the processing plant or what the typical public consumption is, but I would think if the break was on the supply side they could isolate that and continue distribution and pressurization with stored potable water on site and in the water towers.

She didn't exactly look "travel ready". Wet hair, pulled back, wearing a rain coat, and looking like she didn't get much sleep last night.

Yeah, I definitely appreciate the swift response. I used to work in the industry so I understand. My question was essentially what’s the reasoning for the 24 hour test? I believe someone answered it. Kind of strange that in 2024 we don’t have some sort of instantaneous results.

What’s the reasoning that it takes at minimum 24 hours to get the testing back to lift the advisory? I’m assuming it has something to do with the water being flushed through the entire system and not that the test actually takes 24 hours?

Glad you answered your own question.

Water has to be flushed, something with chlorination of the initial shot of water.

Either way, this is ridiculous. We're one of incredibly few places in the country that accept this.

There's a reason Louisiana is one of the only low cost of living states that people are leaving in mass.
