A Russian military transport plane carrying 65 Ukrainian prisoners of war crashed Wednesday morning in Russia’s Belgorod region near Ukraine, according to Russia's Defense Ministry.

Six crew members and three other people were also on the flight, the Defense Ministry said. It was not immediately clear what caused the crash and if anyone survived.

Per the Russians, it was shot down by either a Patriot battery or an IRIS-T.
The Russians had given the Ukrainians the flight route.
From Resident
The GUR coordinates the exchanges, it was probably someone in the MOD who made the mistake.

Our source in the OP said that all exchanges take place according to the same scenario and this is not the first time that Ukraine and Russia agree on air routes. Now there is a big stir on Bankova, they decide how to act in the situation and on whom to dump the vein for violation of the agreements, and most importantly the death of Ukrainian prisoners.
quote:
Our sources said that transport planes have not been flying to Belgorod for a long time, and today a route for the exchange of feat was agreed. At the moment, it is being found out who conducted an uncoordinated operation to destroy the aircraft, there are more than 10 groups of GURs with MANPADS operating on the territory of Russia, who were not aware of the agreements on the aviation route.

Video showing the plane going down already on fire then an explosion from hitting the ground.....camera pans back in sky and you can see an "explosion cloud" in the sky where the claim is a missile exploded
Reddit link
claims from Ukraine side is the plane was carrying S300 armaments, and that 17 of the 60 names the Russians published as killed had already been exchanged earlier in January and are back in Ukraine.\
still early but propaganda flowing from both sides....but obviously there was a plane crash

Operation Condor has been resurrected?
They just took it to the next level by having the plane crash instead of opening the cargo bay over the ocean.
