I like Chris Blair but don’t like that he gives the exact yard line things happen.

Burns was already in the end zone by the time Blair deciphered the pick happened at about the 16. Too much thinking—just round to the nearest 5.

ETA: most of the second video is just him celebrating/dancing. that’s appropriate.

Havent checked yet, but the fall-down and get-up by him during the Alabama game to save a touchdown.

That, among other plays saved the game.

Seriously, there were only 2 links with game highlights and those amounted to a handful of plays. The first link in context was Missouri desperate to drive down the field in a few seconds. He played his short responsibility and the QB stared down the WRer the entire time. The INT in the second link the ball was thrown right to him. The WR being targeted was actually covered by another LSU defender so he was playing free on that play. Gggggeeezzzzz! You have got to be kidding me. I was hoping that Sage Ryan would stay in the portal and Burns would turn pro....free up two scholarships But of course everyone here knows that Burns would not be drafted.

I really think he has a good season
He knows the game, physical also
But to physical at times and needs to learn more on tackling
But I’m actually glad he’s back

He is a good player, but last season, his play was bad. Hopefully the coaching can get him back to being the player he was. It seems like he has been here going back to Les.

Guy was the king of celebrating a stop after giving up a 50 yard pass.

I remember many times I watched major burns do some great things. And then i would watch him do the most bonehead thing ever. I’m interested to see what he can do if he can get it together. We’ll see.

Literally two of the easiest interceptions ever and a shite ton of dancing and celebrating. I see nothing here.

My biggest memory of him is getting run over by the UCLA TE in that screen pass for a long painful TD run. That play changed the game.

Lmao the first link was one play in which a blind person could see where the qb was going with that ball.

The second link wasn’t even a minute long and featured three plays and like 45 seconds of him flexing and/or talking shite.

The third link fricking high school camp tape from 4 fricking years ago.

The fourth link is a fricking letter to his dad.

He’s not a good ball player. LSU would do well to find a replacement ASAP.

I caught on to Burns being soft and slow at processing the game several years ago. I’m not trying to crap on the kid, but he is NOT LSU starter level and never has been. He should be nothing but a backup. And it’s disconcerting the trend we see of coaches in recent years elevating players that we’ve seen do nothing but be a liability on the field for years, to crowing about them being “leaders” and the best of our players. Just because of their seniority on the team, not because of talent or ability. I understand how coaches want to portray senior players as pillars of the team to help their draft status as much as possible… but it’s disingenuous.

Truth is, Burns is not light enough on his feet to recover and make a solid tackle after he overcommits and gets put on skates. When he does make contact, it isn’t solid most of the time, he has trouble diagnosing plays and knowing where he needs to be, he sucks in coverage and tries to compensate by keeping space between him and receivers - all that does is create easy completions. RARELY do we see him being confident enough to jump a route. When he does, his instincts are usually wrong and he ends up getting burned. Also he’s not fast, violent, or maneuverable enough to cause QBs to hesitate to throw into tight windows or RBs to stutter step and lose momentum. They just run right through him.

Again, Im just making an honest assessment of what I’ve seen. Got nothing against him. Just know he doesn’t belong as a starter or especially a star player. And if he’s the best we got, our D is TRULY trash (it is).

When he is used near the box he is pretty good. Playing in a lot of space is his enemy. If he was bigger he could be a good WLB.

Why do you say untapped? He has been here for 4 yrs now

It will be interesting to see how he plays with a better team and staff around him. I could never tell if he was problem or solution last season. Bad coaches, scheme, and fellow players make everyone look bad. If he just has to do his assignments maybe he will be a world beater.
