Only a rich man can afford a primary election and then a general election. It favors the rino's.

Why would I need an endorsement from a fellow repub, if I'm now the repub nominee? Why would I pay off his debt. If he jumps to the DIMs after getting beat, then hes done in politics

Ive never registered with a party. This will block me out of participation. Don’t like it. I vote for republicans and democrats depending on the candidates and the field. I don’t want to have to register for a party, ever.

I’m registered independent and I’ll never change it.I was a registered Republican most of my life,changed to independent when Cassidy voted to impeach Trump.

Registered voters 2,976,948
Dems 1,145,656

Other parties 821, 906
Note Dems outnumber Republicans

Seems wrong to me.
All taxpayers pick up the tab not just independents. And really it’s no difference than a guy like me that pays school taxes, BREC taxes, COA taxes, Mental health taxes etc. The community benefits; thus I benefit.
But this is a good debate topic unlike most of the BS here now. I do think they are rushing this through. It needs to be properly vetted.

I haven't lived in Louisiana in years but I know tons of democrats in Texas that do it. Unless there is a more ethical version of democrat in Louisiana (lol) it's happening.

Right now in Louisiana a as situation that allows the Dems to huddle up, pick their top dog for Governor, and he inevitably gets into the general election by getting most of the Dem vote. He can husband his resources and save them for the general election.
On the other hand the Republican field has numerous viable candidates, and these various candidates have to really go after each other in hopes of qualifying for the general election. They have to campaign much harder and spend more resources.
I can see a closed primary system that sponsors elections for parties to pick their guy for the general election. I believe most states do it that way.

What will happen now will be they will just pay off the debt and have them drop out before primary, oh, I mean, "suspend their campaign"
Or deals will be cut... drop out early... you will get a job in my cabinet... a la Richard Nelson.
The endorsement payoffs will just happen earlier in the cycle.

In a closed system, the primary will feature republicans beating up on each other, in the general, they will beat up on the democrat.
Will call for different tactics for each, which will no doubt cost more money.
Is it a huge difference? No. I don't think it is big enough to mkae a big impact... but there will be some.
