I think you just proved my point.

There are parts of most larger cities that you shouldn't walk around at night. Hell, I never feel unsafe in Lafayette, but there are places that I wouldn't want to go at night, so I don't go there.

Are those areas larger in New Orleans than most other cities, sure. But, if you are smart you should never feel unsafe because you should never put yourself in an unsafe situation. Knowing what is safe vs unsafe is half of the battle. I suppose if you are ignorant of that, then it's "normal" to feel unsafe at all times.

I'm skinny and wear a leather jacket here in my hometown.
Let's just cut to the chase. OBVIOUSLY, urbanites are much more scared of rural America than vice versa which is hilarious

No; wanting to avoid certain cities is the intelligent thing to do.

Nah, it's being a pussy to avoid entire cities.

1. Every major city has areas you avoid. You will know, without a doubt, when you're in one of those areas. Homeless will be everywhere, shady motherfrickers just standing around for no reason, shitty businesses on the streets with bars or pull-down doors for security at night. You see that, head back in the direction you came from.

2. Every major city has amazing areas with amazing things to do, food to eat, things to see and experience. Any man who would refuse to take his family to check out Chicago, for example, due to the unfounded thought that the entire city is a dangerous shithole, is not only a pussy, but also a fricking ignoramus.

3. Gangbangers don't want to murder tourists. Dead tourists bring on a lot of heat from the law and the press.

I think OP's point was to not pussy out on seeing the world because of unrealistic fears. The fear porn you see on TV or read in the news does not define every city block.

The true test of manliness is the willingness to get carjacked. If you complain about having your house broken into, you are less of a man.

Love this site.

PROTIP: New Orleans and Atlanta are DUMPS.

Get mad.

Tell a rural Mississippian you visited New York.
Then tell a New Yorker you visited rural Mississippi.
See which one acts more scared and concerned. Hell, see which one is more out of touch.

The only person who I've ever heard say that they were scared of certain small towns was my black friend, but he's got some weird paranoia that the white devil is going to kill him.

There are plenty of people who dislike small rural towns, but he's the only example I've ever found of someone being scared of one, and he isn't even a urbanite, he was raised in a rural area and lives on the outskirts of town.

Sure, if you're hanging out after dark in the FQ going down side streets, you should probably feel unsafe.

So, people can't go to the most famous part of the city after the sun goes down and expect to be safe?
