LSU needs to recruit more unknown/rural Shreveport kids. Lot of talent but unconnected

Dak Prescott
L'Jarius Sneed (has 81 pass attempts with 0 TDs and 17 forced incompletions)
Tre White
Devin White
Mo Claiborne
These are all guys that came from extreme under the radar places. Minden High, Green Oaks, North Webster, Haughton, Fair Park High Schools are lucky if they even have a camera to film their games. The coaches there have 0 contacts. If a player from these schools gets rated by a recruiting service, I think that means they have a good amount of potential as you really have to shine to become noticed as a recruit from these impoverished high schools. Jarret Fobbs might be an example who didn't pan out, but I think the majority do extremely well. Omarion Miller would be another example.
FWIW, Evangel and Calvary wouldn't be an example. Coaches recruit so much and are connected there that even just decent players get offers. Doug Pederson, Eagles SB HC, was HC at Calvary just a few years before 2018. I'm talking about the North Webster, Huntington, Green Oaks, North Caddo, Fair Park kind of high schools.

This isn't the 60's anymore.
If you're playing great at a decently sized school, then you're gonna get noticed.
Also, I want LSU to recruit the best players they possibly can, and not just kids from unknown Shreveport schools...

Isn’t Dak from the Lake Charles area?
Posted on 1/7/24 at 5:32 pm to StrongOffer
He's from Haughton which is like 15-20 min east of Shreveport. Saw him play in high school vs Byrd. Remember him rolling out right and just flicked it 50 yards down field, and I was like "who is this guy?" Didn't even know he was a recruit until seeing him start at Miss St

No, Haughton, LA.

He was born in Sulphur (according to Wiki) no idea how long he lived there before heading to Haughton...

LSU recruited 4/5 of those guys dude

I think once upon a time I read he was from Sulphur and just always assumed he grew up there too.

I mean 3 of the 5 did come to LSU, so it’s not like they totally ignore that area. And they tried to get Dak, but Les was an idiot.
At the same time, with social media, it would be pretty difficult to not find a stud player regardless of how rural the area is IMO.

Dak was born in Sulphur and lived in Vinton until his mother passed then he moved to N LA and went to HS at Haughton

So LSU got 3 of the 5 you mentioned. And if I recall they offered Dak but it was late.
Doesn’t sound like they are ignoring those schools.

Singleton from Many
Cryer from Natch Central
Currently on Simon (rb) and Harper (G) are both at Calvary.
BK went to Captain Shreve to try to get Law but it was too late.

Not late, he was offered as a tight end. Before anyone thinks that is crazy, only two P5 schools offered him at all, only one as a QB, we all know who that was.

It had nothing to do with offering late, Les was adamant about Dak playing TE due to his size. IIRC Dak was closer to 240 lbs in HS and built like a Mack Truck. LSU already had QB commitments from Mettenberger and Steven Rivers. Dan Mullen saw the potential and told Dak he could play QB. Once that happened he was gone.

Sneed is the best DB in the league right now. It’s a travesty he didn’t get an LSU offer. LSU needs to get back to finding these kind of gems on the defensive side of the ball.

It’d be better to give us the 2 and 3 stars who were overlooked and blew up. You listed the kids everyone was recruiting, no mystery there.

Fun fact for ya, Blake Baker recruited sneed to la tech. He also recruited Amik Robertson to tech also

He had no major conference offers, it happens.

Part of what makes LSU such a great school recruiting wise is that you can say this same thing about any metro area in the state
Posted on 1/7/24 at 6:54 pm to Saunson69
You picked 5 guys from like the last 15 years. That isnt a very impressive amount of talent
