Wife and I planning a trip to San Antonio to get out of Nola during Mardi Gras. We were planning on bringing our kids to sea world, Lego land, etc. Looks like a good city to visit with kids.

Anyone been recently? Recommend or don’t recommend?

Yes. Also check out Natural Bridge Caverns.

Go to the top of the tower.

See the Alamo.

Feed the ducks and ride a boat on the Riverwalk.

Fun trip.

Fun city, just be careful where you park and what you leave in your car. It's worse than NOLA in that respect from what I hear. They love to steal trucks and send them south over the border.

Highly recommend. Prob a good time of year to go bc it won’t be so damn hot. Take them to the river walk too and take a little boat ride. San Antonio is great. New braunfels is awesome too but idk how fun it would be this time of year. Kids would prob love natural bridge caverns.

It’s been a few years; but, my kids enjoyed it. Colorful town. Fun food scene. Check out the Alamo and some of the Missions. The Riverwalk during daylight is fun for kids too.

I think so. The Alamo, Sea World, the Riverwalk. I liked it when I was a kid.

There is also the DoSeum which is great if they are the right ages.

We took out kids when they were 8 and 10 and they enjoyed the
Alamo and the full Mission Trail, Seaworld, Natural Bridge Caverns, Riverwalk.

Took the kids last year in late January. Absolutely loved it!

Get a hotel on the Riverwalk! Much easier to do all the things around there like the Alamo.

Definitely a great place for kids for a few hours. As long as they aren't scared of the dark ,it's an awesome time.

Good restaurants in the Pearl and Southtown, near the Riverwalk area.

Went end of 2022 & 12 year old really enjoyed the caverns. They also have a Guinness world record museum that she enjoyed near the Alamo. We didn’t hit the wax museum but imagine kids might like that too.

I guess the downvotes are for the "worse than NOLA" comment. However, in most of our Texas cities, property theft is fairly prevalent, especially if you leave something in your car. Unlike Louisiana, we don't generally have problems with violent crime.

I can vouch for the steal trucks comment. It's been a few years, but my hubby's F250 with the Cummins diesel was stolen from a pretty public place in the middle of the day. Cops told us that the most popular vehicles for theft there are 4wd trucks because they work well for drug and gun running. We got it back and were lucky it was still in pretty good shape. They found it in a warehouse with a whole bunch of trucks destined to head to Mexico.

But yes, San Antonio is a great place to take your family. Do the Alamo and the touristy stuff there. Ride the boat on the Riverwalk for the cheesy, but fun tour. Go to El Mercado, the Tower of the Americas, Sea World, Fiesta Texas (is it 6 Flags now? I forget.) Try not to eat on the Riverwalk. It's touristy food that's mostly not that good.

Except for Iron Cactus. That place is legit.

Just want you to know this isn't a Legoland like California, New York, Florida.

We took our two kids last February and had a good time. Definitely recommend getting a hotel on the Riverwalk. Their favorite part was walking the Riverwalk each night and getting ice cream.

Legoland was cool. Really good zoo, too.
