Did the young cop unlock the phone using Face ID of a frozen dude and then play videos from that phone looking for clues instead of just taking a “selfie”as mentioned?

yes of course half the people commenting in this thread are legally retarded
but SFP is right someone did take a selfie with the bodies at the beginning of the episode. not that that should be weird the cops did it with Kobe's body.

The show seems to be settling in after Episode 2 as a few items are starting to clear up. The vilitrol on this thread after EP 1 was classic. I wonder how many people that “checked out” without watching or after the Caribou scene in E1 watched E2

It was. The young cop who used the Face ID on the phone is fairly competent (as shown by his scene with Foster) and portrayed as a good, young cop learning how to work a big case.
At the scene there was some random idiot cops doing idiot cop things. As said above, similar to the first responders taking pics at the Kobe crash. It’s definitely not unheard of.

In a way I’m glad I’m open to watch it unfold. Thankfully, I wasn’t smart enough to pass on Game of Thrones after the opening credits …..had I known it would end so poorly eight seasons later

Oh God. Please don't mention GOT. some of us are still mourning.

shite. I just rewatched S1E1

D'oh
Yep. I kept focusing on that in this episode. But I also re-watched season 1 like a month ago.

I’m not very smart so keep me honest.
The dude that started yelling that was frozen, Was that supernatural or did it really happen? I thought I heard Jody Foster say they took him to the hospital and amputated a leg but that can’t be right, can it? Who was she talking about?
That guy was still dead afterwards, right?

I like how you agree with the first guy and act like everyone else is a braindead moron, then literally in the next sentence immediately contradict what the first guy said.

You saw it correctly. When officer accidentally broke off his hand he let out a scream. He was transported and leg amputated. Foster asked about speaking to him. Had serious Seven vibes there from guy who represented sloth. Police initially thought he was dead but he coughed and was still alive. Turned out his brain was mush and not able to communicate. I’m expecting same here. No way that guy has any cognitive functions left. But was truly a jump scare for sure.

Something I've unintentionally been unable to not focus on in E2 is navarros acting. I read after E1 that she's actually a boxer and isn't really an actor and this is only like her 2nd role or something. We'll skip over the "why is she in such a big project with such a big name lead if it's her 2nd gig" stuff.
But after now knowing that...I CANNOT help but notice how unbeleivably stiff and robotic she is in 99% of her scenes. Granted some of htat may just be the script. I know she's supposed to be some dark, brooding, no-nonsense badass alpha female. Whatever. But still even with that being the case, her facial expressions are bland all the time. Doesn't show emotion. Barely emotes at all. Delivery is monotone and boring. I mean it's honestly annoying that I'm now tractor-beamed into noticing it and I can't help it. I think in E2 I recalled like 10 seconds worth of screen time she had where she either smiled or displayed anythign resembling what you'd refer to as "acting". And my Lord the metal in her face is distracting.
Ok...I feel better now.

So what’s everyone’s theory on why the one dude is missing from the frozen pile?
Posted on 1/23/24 at 7:35 am to WG_Dawg
When do new episodes drop? Saturdays?
And thinking more and more about the tie to Season 1, gosh it feels forced.
Rust's dad
Spiral Symbol
Tuttles being in multiple industries (never came up in Season 1)
So by happenstance, Rust's dad lives 2k miles away, where the Tuttles happen to have ties, and the symbol is.
I'll wait it out, but like I said, feels like a nod to Rust's dad would have been cool and then a different symbol/family/issue separate of Season 1 would be better, especially if its going to be supernatural which seems likely.

what's so crazy to me is this director has gone out of her way to basically insult anyoen that likes season 1. She has talked shite about "bros" giving negative reviews to her show because htey like S1 better, and also specifically mentiond that "True detective" S1 was light and masculine, while her show is dark and female. Direct quote. On teh face of it you'd think that she despises how great S1 is and feels inferior putting out a similar type of project that obviously isn't as good.
And yet....she's trying to throw as many S1 easter eggs/callbacks/references as humanly possible and we're only 2 episodes in
ETA: And as SFP mentiond, they are beating you over the head with the "questions" stuff. Rust had one little line at the end of S1E1 about asking the right quesitons, and now jodie foster and navarro keep saying that repeatedly. It's like she thinks everyone loves S1 becuase of little sound byte quotes like that and so to make her version better she's going to recaputre the magic by having her actors do the same thing

God, if they somehow tie in that Foster and Rust's dad were a thing and she got that saying from him, same as Rust, I will literally kick the dog out the window.

I just think Navarro is a horrible character

There’s a lot that still needs to be spoken to in order to take it from fan service to an actual salient plot. But we do know Rust and his dad lived in Alaska for a time and in S1 it was referenced that in the 8 years after the shootout with Ledoux and Dewall, Rust made some trips back home. All to say, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that Rust makes a cameo later this season or that the cult was already in Alaska and he and his dad just followed it there. But the story has to actually choose to go that direction and explain it as such.
