No, not even that. It's why it's not sustainable long term. No tax deduction and not even a library named after me.

Bragging rights.

I would think the NIL/transfer portal bs going on these days will test their willingness to keep throwing their money around.

Many have more money than they know what to do with...

Let's say you win the lottery. You have 500 million dollars. What are you going to do with it?

Not spending it all trying to buy a national championship.

A good friend of mine owns a business in BR and is pretty well off. He gives a good bit of money (not nearly a top end booster but definitely more than the average fan gives). He mainly does it because he likes LSU football and its a form of entertainment for him especially when they are good. So in his mind he is paying to help ensure that the product he receives is entertaining. Not sure if that is every boosters goal, but thats his

An ego trip. It’s priceless. For so many big timers, it’s everything for them to that have the biggest dick in the room.

Most of them are business owners in the area. They get the business that having a high level college football team brings in during the season for one thing.

If you are a season ticket holder and knew that if you paid an extra $50 a year your team would be better and get some top players would you do it?

For the ultra rich that is their decision, pay some small amount (for the ones that are worth 50 of millions and up) and get a better product that you love to watch.

I donate to the LSU baseball team just to know I'm helping the program even if it's just a little bit.

Skip convinced me around 1996 that my contributions would help the team and program so I've donated every year since then.
