Chasing after stars from multiple states away is not what builds a program like LSU. If it did, Notre Dame would be in the conversation year in and out. LSU needs to have 20-25 guys from La/Tex/Miss and 5 or so from other areas sprinkled in, hopefully 4/5 stars. Ed O wanted 10-15 recruits nationally, look what that got us…

Have you paid attention at all to the players Louisiana produces? We've been at or near the top per Capita in NFL players for the longest. Do better with your takes.

It always has been, but it will be difficult to maintain with addition of Texas.

WEST CHESTER – On April 22, Ohio State's 2022 recruiting class got stronger with the addition of defensive back Jyaire Brown. At the time Brown played for Warren Easton High School in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Then June 9, Lakota West High School football got stronger when Brown announced he was moving and transferring to play with Coach Tom Bolden's Firebirds, Originally from Cincinnati, Brown's family is relocating and he's expected to be eligible under Ohio High School Athletic Association transfer rules involving a bona fide change of residence.

Ok, so he is originally from Ohio then moved to New Orleans maybe to play here (maybe lived with family here) to see how he could do in New Orleans against top guy here before going back to Ohio.

So he is from Ohio, lived in New Orleans (has some ties here, perhaps some family who live down here).

Thanks for that info, like I said, I don't ever remember him being a guy that was on the 7-7 scene in New Orleans and a player that was seen maybe as 8th or 9th grader in LSU camp that was an up and coming CB prospect in-state.

Seems to work pretty well for UGA, Bama, Texas, OSU. All in much more fertile recruiting areas than us.

Each year almost 400 players, from High Schools and JC sign scholarships. I think we can get a few. But this class, we signed over 60% Louisiana high school players.

Orgeron got in trouble when he starting recruiting California and the east coast. He whiffed on guys like Sampah and Webb and passed on Egderrin Cooper.

Then you’re in luck. It never existed so it doesn’t need to stop.

The vast majority of transfers under Kelly have been out of state players.

Bear Bryant once said he could win the national title every year with the Louisiana’s 1st and 2nd team best high school players.

We have tried to get high level players via the portal not from Louisiana, they don’t always want to come here.

Feels like we aren’t even trying to get some of the top guys out there and just getting players who are from Louisiana. We need talent whether homegrown or from china.

We just took a fella from Ohio state.
Our deep snapper is from East Carolina. (Geaux pirates)
Jordan Jefferson DT is from Wvu.

It’s not the only criteria he looks at.

He was an absolute dude when he was at Warren Easton and the consensus top CB in the state before he transferred back to Ohio. Recruiting sites had him pegged as the next guy for DBU at the time.

LA guys w/ family here are less likely to transfer. See Jalen Brown "there's value in the dirt" as Moscona likes to say
