I do not like hearing that our young men wouldn’t make a DDay-type assault

And I strongly disagree with that assertion.
My mother and wife and I were watching the airborne invasion of Normandy scenes from Band of Brothers earlier and they said that they had no belief that our young men could or would make those assaults. Whether it’s the assaults on Utah or Omaha or the jumps behind the lines.
Our young men WOULD do it in my estimation. Not that they would necessarily have to in the 21st Century and the battlefield that is the new age of warfare. But nonetheless, our young men of fighting age would do it.
I’m sure the WWI vets thought the men going off to battle in WWII weren’t worth a damn and wouldn’t fight worth a shite as well.
I do not like people speaking about our young folks like that and said as much to my mother and wife.

Gen Z doesn’t even know what fricking gender they are. I wouldn’t trust them to go into battle even if my life depended on it.

I mean, they would try I guess. I wouldnt dare bet on today's military being successful, all weapon conditions being equal.

Make it a video game and they could.

Boys were committing suicide because they were 4F and couldn’t go fight during WWII.
Let that sink in and ask yourself that question again

The ones defending the beachhead would be picking from men of similar stock, so it would likely be a push.

I agree with OP. This board is full of pussies that project their weaknesses on to everyone else.
Bunch of figs IYAM.

Are there men as hard as those tough SOBs that did D Day? Yes. Are they anywhere near as plentiful, no.

The f-22 exists, play Medal of Honor or War Thunder and get over yourself old man.

Yeah. Rifle in one hand, cell phone in the other.

Why should the younger generation sacrifice their life for the older generation’s frick ups?

I agree. There are still some great people still serving. People cherry pick articles about what some General or Admiral said and think it really filters down to the lower ranks, which it doesn’t. Been in 15 years and I’ve only met a handful that support Democrat ideology. Most are willing to fight and die for their country.
No one is buying into the mandated training. It’s a PowerPoint click through or stare off into space presentation. 99% of people care about being the best at their job and how to defeat the adversary (China, NK, Russia, and Iran)

WWII came on the heels of the Great Depression and the war was a no-brainer Good vs Evil. You had desperate times and clear mission to defeat the bad guys.
So I agree with you.
Given similar circumstances today I would bet anything our 17-30 yr old American men would rise to the occasion.

The military strategy back then was as archaic as medieval times
Their strategy was to throw as many bodies as they could to overwhelm the enemy.
Who could blame anyone for not wanting to be cannon fodder.
This take doesn’t just go to millennials or gen z or gen X or boomers
No one wants to sacrifice their life to over take a beach or hill or any sort of military objective
