As per Lowell Galindo on ESPNU InsideThe Polls, the headlines on December 8, 2009 will read "Russell Shepard Leads LSU To SEC West Title." He said that Shepard is Percy Harvin at quarterback.

Things are looking up.

Quite possibly the biggest douche on the World Wide Leader. I'll take it anyway.

Well, lets not get your hope up. I don't see Bama taking a step back. I see them only getting better.

We have more problems on this team than just qb.

I am sure LSU will be one of the top teams in the west next year...

seriously when was the last time a team won their division starting a true freshman at quarterback??

There's that saying again - "book it". I guess it's gotta be true.

There are many issues to address on this team. Let's take it one step at a time.

You need to look again...

New O-line = Struggle

New QB w/o experience = Struggle

Defense on the field alot = Struggle

Bama 8-4 at best and that is only because they dont play UGA or UF next year and Auburn and UT are in doubt.

2004 --> Eric Ainge and Brent Shaffer

Unless you count Rick Clausen taking over after both got hurt, leading us to steller victories over UK and Vandy.

That being said, I don't understand why you LSU fans are so scared of Alabama. Tennessee had the worst offense in the NCAA and I still felt like we had some shots to win. You guys match up well talent wise and may be better.

I disagree. Bama's schedule keeps them in it next year. The don't ask much from the QB so I think the inexperience will not affect them like it did LSU this year.

I think Ole Miss and Bama will be the favorites to win the West next year. Too many unknowns with LSU at the moment.

We could potentially lose Lafell, Black, Scott, K. Williams and RJF. Before you question me on Scott and K. Williams. This is a weak RB class and I don't see how splitting carries again next year will help their draft status. One will leave, IMO.

If Malleveto is running the D we will likely go 3-5 at best in the SEC next year. Losses @ UGA, @ Bama, @ Ole Miss, UF, and Arkansas.

We will also have an inexperienced QB for the second straight year in a row with Jefferson. He will have started two games going into next year. I only see Lee being a factor if an injury occurs.

Brave, but not necessarily unrealistic.

Not gonna happen. Saban will have defense to match Shepard.

Good question. I guess Tennessee with Ainge.
LSU won the SEC with a "redshirt" freshman in '86 - Tommy Hodson.
